Veterans' Day

Tomorrow is Veterans' Day.

Many of us on this Board are opposed to the war in Iraq.

I am on those who are opposed to the war.

That being said, I want to thank each and every person who either through choice or through a draft, has served this country and defended her in times of war and peace.

I may hate what the Administration is doing, but respect deeply those who choose to serve this country.

As President Woodrow Wilson stated when he issued his Armistice Day proclamation (the precurser to Veterans' Day):

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nation."

Let us hope that future leaders will remember this proclamation when considering putting our men and women in the military in harms way.

To those who have served and are now serving in our military - thank you.
