Video Camera Advice

Ok, so as some of you know (and some may not) I have a muppet and we make videos on YouTube. I've been doing it with my built-in webcam, but I really want to expand the world a little...and since I'm moving out, now would be a good time.

The only thing I really for sure need from a camera is the ability to use it on a tripod. This is key, since, well, I can't manipulate a muppet and hold a camera at the same time...at least, not without doing a parody of "Blair Witch" (oooh, Halloween idea).

So, anyone have any suggestions?
