So the new Donna Summer remix album dropped and it's very so-so. However! The best remixes are by the master himself. Still got it after all these years.
Entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Oh, why not???
Love To Love You Baby---Irresistable Moroder 2013 remix
He's been doing a number of decent live sets, as well, some have been webcast. I love that he's embracing music again -- it's no secret I'm a bit obsessed with most of his productions (at least from '75-'85 or so) even lesser known albums like the wonderful Suzi Lane - Ooh La La.
I agree the remix album is so/so. Bruce Sudano (Donna's husband) released a statement about how the goal was to do as many different styles as possible, but some of the most dubby tracks like the depressing remix of On the Radio simply miss the mark. But overall, I'm glad to have it. (It's also depressing that Donna's vocals are barely featured on an otherwise great remix of one of my fave Donna tracks, Working the Midnight Shift. Apparently Donna's original vocal masters have been lost by Universal--though Moroder found some he had kept himself in his basement--and they liked the mix so much and the fact that they wanted to use it anyway. Hrmm.)
