I didn't know what this thread was about, but it got my attention!!!

it's amazing how important an issue this is and how swept under the rug it is.
Much more important to make legislation hand-tying the House Ethics Committee. That's worthwhile stuff.
Oh, yeah, and eliminating the filibuster.

I live in one of the areas where Republicans were 'making sure' that all the voters were registered properly before they were allowed to vote. What's funny is I had just moved, had never voted in the district I was voting in and had registered very close to the registration deadline, not to mention that I hadn't changed my driver's license to reflect my new address. But, I'm a tall, blonde haired white guy who wears a white shirt and tie to work. I wasn't checked. Apparently I didn't meet the one REALLY important criteria to be bothered before voting in Ohio.

yoda--I know what you mean, but a lot of Americans are very uneducated about these things.

That doesn't change the fact that they pay their taxes and have the right to exercise their right to vote. They just need to be educated better about the process. And when they are bombarded with the other false information, I'm sure it creates confusion--confusion that we know better than to fall for.

You know--I think if Jury Duty is required--voting should be. If a person doesn't want to vote, they merely have to show up and select "no vote" or something like that. Who knows? But we def need a uniform system with a paper trail.
