PBS in New York is showing a documentary about LePage's RING production at the MET. All this film does is reinforce, for me, why this production was a stupid use of money and an arrogant attempt at modernizing the look of Wagner. The night I saw it, everything seemed too self-consciously clever, even though the very expensive boardwalk did what it was told to do.
