Alright, this is basically a thread to share weird or cool stuff that has happened to you before.
Don't get what I mean?
Well, I'll share:
Okay, I was in NYC this July doing the New York Film Academy program. So as you New Yorkers all know, it was extremely hot during the summer months this year. So my film crew and I were all out filming in the afternoon. We were shooting our film in the park, when suddenly this old homeless guy comes yelling through the streets, "There's gonna be a blackout! We're gonna lose power! There's gonna be a blackout!" So, we all just looked at him, and didnt take him seriously- just thought he was some crazy dude. Well, not even 10 minutes later, we get a call from the NYFA school telling us the power went out in the Union Square area, and we had to shut down the school and filming for the day.
So yeah, maybe it was just me, but I thought that was pretty weird, but cool.

A sad story, but:
This strange thing happened to me - I can't explain it: back in 1992, my dad was dying of pancreatic cancer, and I used to visit him on the weekends (I was in the service stationed nearby). On a Monday evening, I had taken my dog to the groomers to stay overnight, and I would pick him up the next afternoon.
Since I was alone that night, I decided to go see my dad and stay overnight and go to work in the morning from my parent's home. When I got there, he was quickly going downhill, and was having breathing problems. We had called the Hospice nurse who came out to check on him - not 10 minutes after she left, he passed away.
So, if I hadn't taken taken the dog to the groomers, I wouldn't have gone to my parent's home that night, and I wouldn't have been there when my dad died. Something or some instinct made me go that night to see him. To this day, I don't really have a good explaination why.
Something like that happened to my mom too. She was at college in Syracuse when a cousin of hers died. She came down to Long Island to the funeral. Not a few days later, her father suddenly died of a heart attack.
Let me try to explain what happened to me...
I was working in Kansas City on a corporate team. They staggered the length of time we stayed. Our pay was better when on the road than when home. I was scheduled to stay five weeks while my coworker was scheduled to stay three. She quickly befriended the area manager and was overheard (by a girl that I had trained) telling her that she could only stay longer if the manager specifically called our supervisor and requested it. She knew that due to costs, for her to stay would mean that I would leave early. The manager called and requested it. Needless to say, I was livid. I packed up my stuff and headed home. During the drive home, my supervisor's supervisor heard about the situation and did some digging. He got to the root of it. He decided he would send me to Alabama on a single assignment to make up for the work I would be missing. I didn't want to go, but money is money.
My uncle, who lived about four hours from me had been very sick. He had a disorder called Amyloidosis. No one has ever heard of it. The only specialist was in NYC, so he had been there for the last year with my aunt. They finally realized that there was little else they could do and you can imagine the cost, so they sent him home. I had been traveling for work since he got home, so I hadn't gotten to see him. I had actually never driven myself to see them. I had always tagged along with my mom.
I mapquested where I was going and went to Alabama. I was in bumblef**k. I had no clue where I was geographically. Someone mentioned that we were pretty close to Memphis. I looked at the map and it turned out that I was 40 minutes from my aunt's house. I called my mom and she went to my aunt's house. On my day off, I went, too. He had been so bad off that he didn't recognize anyone. I walked in the door and he said, "Well, hey, Amber." The whole house laughed. I spent the night and then went back to work the next day. When I got to the hotel, my mom called. My uncle had just passed away. They buried him the next day. If I had been in KC, I never would have seen him. I couldn't have made it there in time for the funeral, either. It's amazing how things work out.
I still hate the bitch from Kansas City.
