Such a funny and brave woman. She lost her battle with cancer today. She is best known for BOSOM BUDDIES, but
check out I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND if you haven't seen it.

How sad... Don't forget her quips in Back to the Future, Bachelor Party and my guilty pleasure - 1941..
She was an extremely talented comedienne

Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:25amSo very very sad. I loved her on Bosom Buddies and so many other shows in the 80s.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:30amAddy, she had been battling breast cancer for years. In fact that was her main focus in the last years of her life. Apart from the occasional guest spot (that were too few and far between) she was a huge leader in fighting the disease.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:31amI didn't know she was sick either. I had never heard of her having breast cancer or being on the front lines of the fight.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 1:41amRosie had her on her talk show when she was going through a pretty bad time. She didn't look too bad, considering, and she was so sweet and funny.

If I remember correctly, one of the last Murphy Brown shows was regarding the character having a breast cancer scare and Wendy Jo Sperber, along with two other actresses (whose names I can't recall) also afflicted with it in real life, were in the waiting room in the scene. They were talking statistics in the scene. Sperber was very active in getting the word out about early detection, and she did the episode for that reason.
And that was a while ago...how long since Murphy Brown was on the air?

justme2- Marcia Wallace and Tracy Nelson.
And yeah, that would have been sometime around 97/98, which I only remember because I was working on the Warner lot during that time, and the Murphy/cancer storyline was getting a lot of attention, especially the medical marijuana episode. (/sorry, rambling story off)

Very sad news. I hadn’t realized she was so young when she was doing “Bosom Buddies.”
Remember her sitcom “Women in Prison” (late eighties maybe…I think it was one of the first shows on FOX)? Wendie Jo, CCH Pounder, Denny Dillon, and (I think) Peggy Cass…very funny show.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:15pmMy sole exposure to her was her guest spot in the first season of Will & Grace when she is hired to be Grace's maid. I thought she was hilarious on that episode.

Posted: 12/1/05 at 2:52pmWas it bad, Sueleen? I guess it has been two decades since I've seen it...I honestly don’t remember any specific episodes, only that I watched it every week and was disappointed when it was cancelled (after only one season?). Ah well, thanks for making me laugh anyway, Wendie Jo!
