If the story is as clearcut as the Washington Post has implied, why on earth would she make up such a ridiculous story???? Or is there something being let out?
There's video on youtube that shows her telling the story of this trip and then news footage supposedly of the same trip. I'd link it but I'm on my phone.
What up????
The best strategy would have been to put aside the first lady years as some resume-defining era. She might've made a better case for her candidacy avoiding the Clinton years altogether, touting her Senate run and success in serving NY. Ultimately, her "baggage" is the overuse of her husband's career as both a safety net and her distinquishing experience.
The fairy tale is now on Channel 2 News
Imagine, a politician embellishing their record.
no politician is perfect. Not even obama.
But if this is indeed exactly as it's being reported, I'm just at a loss for words.
I expect better of her.

Here's the spin:
"When asked Monday about the New York senator's recent remarks on the trip, Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson pointed to Clinton's previous written account in her book, "Living History," in which she described a shortened welcoming ceremony at Tuzla Air Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Clinton wrote: "Due to reports of snipers in the hills around the airstrip, we were forced to cut short an event on the tarmac with local children, though we did have time to meet them and their teachers and to learn how hard they had worked during the war to continue classes in any safe spot they could find."
"That is what she wrote in her book," Wolfson said. "That is what she has said many, many times and on one occasion she misspoke."
So, I guess anyone that questions her veracity should feel bad for holding her accountable - because she only 'misspoke' one time.
that makes me feel better that she is on record reporting an accurate account numerous times and in writing.. But how on earth did this misspoken version possibly come about?
Not acceptable.
i'm sorry... there is no way in hell she "misspoke" in that speech. There is no excuse to completely deny that a ceremony occurred especially if she has WRITTEN this account numerous times. She explicitly stated that the account in her speech was as she remembered and she should be evaluated according to that statement rather than statements made by her campaign manager...
Somewhere in my head, I hear Jon Lovetz saying..." ah Yeaaaaa... That's the ticket!"
Just to even the news a little - this was on the front page of the Washington Post this morning (and I apologize if its already been posted):
After weeks of arduous negotiations, on April 6, 2006, a bipartisan group of senators burst out of the "President's Room," just off the Senate chamber, with a deal on new immigration policy.
As the half-dozen senators -- including John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) -- headed to announce their plan, they met Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who made a request common when Capitol Hill news conferences are in the offing: "Hey, guys, can I come along?" And when Obama went before the microphones, he was generous with his list of senators to congratulate -- a list that included himself.
"I want to cite Lindsey Graham, Sam Brownback, Mel Martinez, Ken Salazar, myself, Dick Durbin, Joe Lieberman . . . who've actually had to wake up early to try to hammer this stuff out," he said.
To Senate staff members, who had been arriving for 7 a.m. negotiating sessions for weeks, it was a galling moment. Those morning sessions had attracted just three to four senators a side, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) recalled, each deeply involved in the issue. Obama was not one of them. "
"In 2007, after the first comprehensive immigration bill had died, the senators were back at it, and again, Obama was notably absent, staffers and senators said. At one meeting, three key negotiators recalled, he entered late and raised a number of questions about the bill's employment verification system. Kennedy and Specter both rebuked him, saying that the issue had already been resolved and that he was coming late to the discussion. Kennedy dressed him down, according to witnesses, and Obama left shortly thereafter.
"Senator Obama came in late, brought up issues that had been hashed and rehashed," Specter recalled. "He didn't stay long."
Just this week, as the financial markets were roiling in the wake of the Bear Stearns collapse, Obama made another claim that was greeted with disbelief in some corners of Capitol Hill. On March 13, Dodd, the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, unveiled legislative proposals to allow the Federal Housing Administration to guarantee new loans from banks willing to help homeowners in or approaching foreclosure. Obama and Clinton were in Washington for a day-long round of budget voting, but neither appeared at the housing news conference.
Yet Obama on Monday appeared to seek top billing on Dodd's proposal.
"At this moment, we must come together and act to address the housing crisis that set this downturn in motion and continues to eat away at the public's confidence in the market," Obama said. "We should pass the legislation I put forward with my colleague Chris Dodd to create meaningful incentives for lenders to buy or refinance existing mortgages so that Americans facing foreclosure can keep their homes."
Dodd did say that Obama supported the bill, as does Clinton. But he could not offer pride of authorship to the candidate he wants to see in the White House next year.
"I've talked to him about it at some length," Dodd said. "When Senator Obama was there for that full day of voting, we had long conversations about it. He had excellent questions and decided to support it."

A politician, running for office, who's stretching the truth about their own record? Don't believe it? I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.
Below is a Link to that full article entitled, "Both Obama And Clinton Embellish Their Roles" The second half of the article, not quoted above, talks about Hillary's truth stretches. It's interesting to compare them.

so its a wash.
But still--how sad to have to lie like that to begin with.
I have to confess that at this point they're both annoying the **** out of me.
^Agreed!
Ah, well. At least they both know the difference between Sunni and Shia.
(The DO, don't they?)
its just heartbreaking that we have two terrific candidates. And they have both been reduced to all of this. I still believe in them but it tarnishes things somewhat.
I guess I made them both a little too ethereal in my mind.
Look at it this way Jerby, at least these lies haven't gotten thousands if not tens of thousands killed like the current administration's lies. These are harmless little white lies comparatively.
