oh man. i'm missing new york city pretty bad.

i miss times square. the belasco theatre. 44th street! most broadway theatres for that matter. central park. people jaywalking. taxis everywhere. random sightings of broadway stars on the busy street. crazy fashion choices. the lack of curfew. the cup of noodles sign. grand central station.

i miss most things new york. in the meantime, i will watch sitcoms and tv shows that are set in new york.

Just the energy. New York has a great vibe. And everything's very close together. Believe it or not, I miss the convenience of the subway.

is it bad that I find myself doing this a little too often??

I miss the diversity and the way that people are so liberal but most of all I miss the feeling of belonging.

i know exactly what you mean. you took the words right out of my mouth. i've never felt that i belonged or was happier anywhere else but new york city. the feeling i get there is underscribable and unlike anything.

Public transportation. Today, my bus was AN HOUR LATE and I was left in 40-degree weather at night because it was the only way I could get home. I'd never have that problem in NYC; there's always some other way.

Oh lord do I miss the city

I miss my friends more than anything

But I also miss Times Square, the TKTS booth, the Broadway show billboards, the subway, the food, 42nd Street, and the Golden Theatre

I feel like MrRoxy meant more of things that used to be in New York and are gone now...

In that case: the lack of 9/11 Memorabilia. Such poor taste on so many levels.

Yeesh...NONE of my friends will let me talk about NYC anymore. Being there this summer really cursed me, since now it's all I can think about. Oh well, I'll be back soon enough...ditto to everything everyone's said thus far!

from old New York:

That arcade in Times Square with the fortune telling machine.

The Nedick's Orange Drink stand on 42nd.

The HUGE Nathan's on 43rd & Broadway.

Ratner's on Delancey.

Les Miserables

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
