It's very similar to the BROKEBACK year
Except Brokeback was a terrible boring, overrated and dangerously bloated film and everyone that praised it as OMGAMAHZINGBESTMOVIEEVER were wrong.

I missed that in DARK KNIGHT. Must have been when I nodded off.

How could he have anal-led Batman? Wouldn't the steel Batsuit have crushed his dick?

THE DARK KNIGHT was a pretty crappy movie, except for Ledger Eckhart and Oldman. Seeing it on DVD only makes the film worse, and Bale's Batman costume only looks more ridiculous with successive viewings.
Opinions will differ. An otherwise intelligent woman I know claims THE DARK KNIGHT as the most perfect film she's ever seen, which claim just staggers me.

"Check out SYNECDOCHE NEW YORK."
Well, I tried to watch the preview.
Is Charlie the most narcissistic 'creator' we have actually getting paid today?
I couldn't possibly have less interest in this.

It's not for everyone but it's really cool. It's pretty much all about human life.

Written by Charlie Kaufman -- not promising.
Written and directed by Charlie Kaufman -- not likely that I'll see it.
Written and directed by Charlie Kaufman, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman -- no f*cking way, root canal would be more fun.

The Love Guru
Brilliant movie. Look for Oscar nods in all the major categories.

What is with the huge Philip Seymour Hoffman backlash lately? I remember pre-Oscar, everyone loved him completely.

Not me. Pre-Oscar, Hoffman was even more heavily saturated in the film industry than he is now. About a year or two before Capote, he was in every other film. He was quickly becoming the new Tom Hanks. Love the guy in some stuff, but I don't need to see him in everything and I don't think he is as versatile as the film industry apparently wants me to believe.

Never liked Hoffman, never seen what the big deal is, entirely mostly adequate in everything but nothing at all special or even interesting. He does pretty much what any capable actor would do, no less and certainly no more. The ongoing delusion that he's some kind of major actor is right up there with Clint Eastwood's status as Major Director as Cultural Mysteries Of Our Time.

I agree with you Roscoe. He's good, but not better than so many others.
And while I find Eastwood to be a efficient and slick director, I don't see the brilliance he supposedly imbues in his films.

I agree with Eastwood but I heartily disagree with Hoffman. He has been one of the few actors to consistently pick interesting films (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 notwithstanding) and always is fearless to go places other actors wouldn't dare. I mean, in SYNECDOCHE NEW YORK, there are several scenes of him performing a bowel movement. Or check out his sweaty sex scene in BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD. I feel that his backlash is completely undeserved.

But he poops! On film!

I wouldn't go so far as to call his performances poop, but they're pretty lame and uninteresting.
As taz said, there is no backlash. I've never liked any of his performances.

I'm a little biased, but LURIE POSTON gives a kick ass performance in READY? OK!

No, I was referring to the scenes in SYNECDOCHE NEW YORK during which he is performing bowel movements and you see a close-up of one of his turds as he digs through it with a spoon.
