i haven't auditioned yet either. i've been driving myself to the edge of insanity listening to everything i can get my hands on...this was my sneaky way to find some good songs that work well for colleges lol. so far it is looking like "if i loved you" from carousel and "she cries" from songs for a new world....but i really need something better
I won't need to audition until I go to graduate school, hopefully in New York. Some ideas will be great cause I do need to audition to pick up the music minor i'm considering.

Do a not so popular song so that it will seem new to them, and they wont hate you before you even sing the song. They've probabily heard "If I Loved You" a million times...
what's your range?

yea as much as i love that song i am trying to find a less done one. i'm a lyric baritone. any suggestions? do you think she cries is too overdone?
yes and in general I would reccomend staying away from JRB unless you really are amazing with the song (which you very well might be...but I would say only do it if there is no other song that you feel shows you off better) I'll think of some and try to get back to you

On Broadway
Ballad - I Don't Remember You (Kander and Ebb, from "The Happy Time")
Upbeat - Streets of Dublin (Ahrens and Flaherty, from "A Man of No Importance")
Ahhh I love Streets of Dublin MattSingsAlot!! Steven Pasquale sounds amazing on the CD
I would stay away from "She Cries." I'm sure they have been getting alot of people singing that one.
... although, what do I know, I sang Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jason Robert Brown and still got into NYU CAP 21 and Boston Conservatory. I guess, more than anything, just pick something that you not only sound great on, but actually enjoy performing.
I'm a baritenor, and I sang, "Miracle of Miracles" from Fiddler on the Roof and "Old Red Hills of Home" for my upbeat songs and "Gesthemane" from Jesus Christ Superstar for my ballad.
Good luck! And if you haven't joined the musical theater major message board on collegeconfidential.com, you must!
