Living in SoFL, some of the rudest, nastiest people I deal with are "senior" citizens--talk about entitlement!

Being the (disclosed) age that I am I would like to have a few words...

As I do admit I just found this thread and have only skimmed through most of the posts, I do agree on the majority of them. Kids today feed off of what life gives them. They have to do nothing anymore. They get everything they could possibly need and want.

*not specifically related to kids but*.... Where is society going? Since when can you live off the internet? Buy clothes offline- why do you even need them if you can get groceries delieved, work from your home...etc... I mean, honestly- is there anything that you need to leave your home for to live on the simplest level? No- and I personally find that extremely sad.

Sorry- that was a bit Off Topic.

Back to kids- It's what they grew up with. Did they grow up without the love of their parents that they don't know whats right and wrong. Did they grow up to much with their parents that now they know if they throw a fit, they can get what they want. Either side of the spectrum can give a good example of 'whats the matter with kids today.'

I was in the gym today and on the excersize machine next to me, a girl said hi to me. I struck up a conversation and she was telling me how she has a 1 year old. Not wanting to be rude, I didn't ask her how old she was although she looked quite young. As we got into talking, she told me that the father of the child is now in jail. Then she told me she is 21. Now- just look at that 1 circumstance and meeting that one person at a random point means there are billions more out there. Yes, she seems like a nice young lady but on the other hand, she works full time and goes to school full time. How exactly is this child going to grow up? Is he going to know that his father is in jail? What's he going to think of that? And mom can't pay much attention to him because she has 'other more important stuff to do?'

My other friend has 3 kids. She herself is 27. Her 3 kids are 7,4, and 18 months. The 18 month year old is from her current boyfriend. She works full time and goes to school full time. The bf is very nice...that is, besides the time I saw him slap the 7 year old across the face. Are the kids going to learn that this is ok behavior? "Oh- well, my daddy did it so why isn't ok for me?" Yes, the older generation is teaching the younger generation what is right and wrong.

It really is saddening to know that more than 50% of people are getting divorced these days. Seriously, has the meaning of marriage/relationship changed?

Ok- I do truly appologize for this exrtremely long rant but once I saw the topic I couldn't resist.
