He claims that 53% of children don't graduate high school. Thanks goodness he isn't our president!

More Kerry Crap

He makes one error in a interview and you don't think he should be President.

Yet, Bush makes errors left and right in speeches, interviews, etc. and you just LOVE him.

Who's living on some bizarre planet?

I don't see why you all ALWAYS have to knock someone for their beliefs.

They aren't knocking goth's beliefs, they are knocking goth's stupidity! Huge difference.

(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."

Actually, in some LA school districts, that number is probably accurate.

Especially in poor and minority areas.

"The Civil Rights Project at Harvard University, in conjunction with UCLA, produced a controversial report last spring saying that official dropout statistics in California's largest school districts were shockingly out of sync with reality. The researchers found that only 48% of the L.A. Unified students who started ninth grade in 1999 graduated four years later. The district claims a graduation rate of 66%."

That is 52% who started 9th grade. How many more who dropped out before 9th grade?

Hey, YouWantIt- I am loving that L.A.Times feature on high school graduation this week! Very interesting piece.

I always thought those numbers were/all so subjective- my former high school supposedly has a 79% graduation rate according to the Dept of Education's website, yet the newspaper there in a story just last week said that in my old home state "For every 100 public school students in ninth grade, 65 students graduate four years later," my old high school is a 'not met/school choice' in the No Child Left Behind program, and anecdotally I can tell you that my freshman class had over 600 students, and 4 years later my graduation had just under 300 students (highest dropout and teen pregnancy rates in the state!).

So I really have no problem believing that 53% don't graduate.

boy uwant, you are right on the money........I deal with LAUSD constantly, and the difference between mini-districts, and even schools within the same mini-district is astounding......

Well, his college grades were quite comparable to Shrubya's...it doesn't look too promising...

and that stat is just so clearly wrong. how could he have messed that up?

sometimes I sit around wondering if I can think of any politician that I can truly admire...it's difficult.

Adults over 25 in 2003 which are the ones mentioned in the census stats graduated from High School under Clinton.

It does not make Kerry right with the low number, but I think it is important to point out. Bush's policy did not create the number. re: What planet is John Kerry on?

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I just find it interesting that Kerry is wrong with his numbers twice in one week. Thinking there were enough votes to filibuster Alito and now this. If he's thinking of running in 2008, he should present himself as being more on target.
