I am doing a project for my bible literature class about the bible in straight theater/musical theater. I'm looking for names of shows that come from bible stories or that have to do with the bible in someway. On my list so far are Pippin, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Children of Eden.
Thanks!

"J.B.", a play in verse by poet Archibald MacLeish (sp) won the Pulitzer in about 1959 and retells the story of Job.
It is available in libraries although it is not produced very often at all these days which is to say I cannot remember a production since the early 60s.
But for sheer Bible content, this is a big one.

"God's Favorite" by Neil Simon is also a modern, comical version of the Book of Job.

The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (by Stephen Adly Guirgis) doesn't focus on one particular Bible story, but it does address several Bible stories over the course of an imagined court appeal in Purgatory regarding the damnation of Judas.
