About a quarter-century ago I saw him in BENT, and thought he was perfectly wonderful. Since then, I think he's matured over the years into a lovely film actor. And anyone who is friends with the Dalai Lama can't be bad, in my book.

Guys, I'm coming out of the closet... I too enjoyed his performance in Chicago. *Stands next to Gavrochegirl*
Anyway, I know a little about the Gerbil Incident, but I'm kinda fuzzy on the details...

Wow, BAD IMAGERY now....
I think Richard Gere is such an underrated actor. He's gotten better with age. He's still sexy-as-all-hell. I love it that he has this strong side but he's also spiritually in tune with himself and has a sensitive side. Love him.

Don't like him... never have, and I didn't think he was that great in Chicago. Hugh Jackman would have done better

I liked him in Chicago as well. Not my FAVORITE actor ever, but he's okay.

wow, korenglish... i've never considered hugh as billy flynn before. i could see that.
i love him, he's very sexy :) he was OKAY in chicago but kicked ass in runaway bride *blush*
Well I love him, but I DRAW the line with the gerbils!!!!!! That is sick and cruel......more than anything I feel bad for the little gerbils
Still, if I were one, I guess I'd rather die inside of Richard Gere's ass, then be zapped by a mean old snake!!!!!!
i like him. for the most part, hes a good actor. i just think most of his characters are the same, thats the only thing wrong with him.
yeah just read that gerbil article...............
yeah, ew
p.s. Am I the only one who thinks he's more good looking older than younger? .....
I think he is hot. I love men with pre-mature salt and pepper hair.

I'm old and I think he peaked with Pretty Woman...
Well, If you don't like him now, just think back to An Officer and A Gentleman!!!!!!
The gerbil urban legend was a libel promulgated by homophobes to dehumanize and villainize all gays.
Spreading it is a form of gay-bashing, similar to the "Blood Libel" that anti-Semites used (and still use to this day) to villainize and dehumanize Jews.
