Whatever happened to Barbara Mandrell?

That's a name I haven't thought of in a long time. It brought back a time QUITE a few years ago, when I was sitting in a Las Vegas casino, watching Lola Falana on stage. She started introducing various celebs in the audience. Suddenly I heard the woman behind me say "Oh ****..." I turned to see her rapidly putting out her cigarette just before the spotlight hit her. It was Barbara Mandrell.

I just checked her web site and she wrote a letter to her fans in 2003, just talking about her kids and moving into a much smaller house than she'd formerly had. There was no mention there or anyplace else about any performing.

Because I was thinking about it, I also looked up Lola Falana. She used to put on the most energetic, fun show I'd ever seen in that town. Apparently a couple of years after I saw her she was hit with MS. The most recent thing I could find on her was dated 2002 and it said that the MS was in remission and she was doing charity work for aids victims in Africa.

The problem with the Internet is you don't really know how recent any information is.
