re: Whats wicked to you?

I like Wicked...I'm not like a super crazy fan though. I'm going to see it a second time in September, but I'm taking people I work with so they can see it. (They are older, so it's not going to be a teeny craze for them)
It was 6 hours, I don't even like to have sex and eat bacon for 6 hours.

re: Whats wicked to you?

Even if Wicked were one of my favorite shows I would be embarrassed to admit it.

I personally don't care if someone likes Wicked, as long as their list of favorite shows includes more than that, Avenue Q, Rent, and Aida. re: Whats wicked to you?

I am actually embarrassed now to even wear my Wicked shirt. I buy a showshirt everytime I see a show, but I don't wear Wicked anymore because of all the comments I get on the shirt. I don't need that much attention from young teenage girls. **headdesk**

re: Whats wicked to you?

to me wicked is a relatively pedestrian show that i enjoy about half of. I entirely miss how teenage girls lives are changed by this show, especially since there are plot holes the size of montana throughout. However some of the music is rather enjoyable, especially the end of defyuing gravity (depending highly on who's signign it and if they are singing as opposed to screaming).

re: Whats wicked to you?

God am I crazy? I haven't seen Wicked, nor do I have a desire to. It has nothing to do with what people say (I believe you have to make your opinions), it's just that I tried and tried again to read the book, and could not finish it.

I know alot of people have problems with the "Wicked fangirls" that exist, and while part of me agrees that they should immerse and introduce themselves to so much more (trust me, when people say they love musicals, but don't know who Rodgers and Hammerstein are, I get a little pissy); in some ways I am happy that they are at least seeing things on stage. They are doing their own little part in helping to make sure live stage never becomes a dying art, and for that, I have to forgive them. Does this make sense to anyone?

re: Whats wicked to you?

I totally agree. My school is doing a medley of Wicked for our spring concert today. I really liked the show itself when I saw it, but then all of the underclassmen in my school got so obsessed. To me, there are a lot of better shows out there that deserve attention.

re: Whats wicked to you?

i personally like wicked....though it does get annoying tht people are obbsessing over it... it is actually probably my fav show but ive only seen like 6 or 7 broadways and only 2 ny broadways (including wicked) but ya...it is kinda annoying tht people do think they are like broadway wizzes b//c they know wicked songs even though most of them havent seen the show....but personally i like being able to have a broadway conversation about wicked then not having one at all which would be the case w/ my school....

re: Whats wicked to you?

I'll reply to this thread out of boredom, heh.

When I was a senior in high school, we took our band trip to Toronto. I saw the Lion King, loved it, and tracked down another musical with Heather Headley, Aida. From Aida, I figured Adam Pascal was pretty good, and looked into him. I found Rent, heh, then later tick, tick... BOOM!. Somehow, someone suggested I check out Wicked...

My "Wicked phase," as someone called it, happened in 2004. I listened to it almost everyday, until I found the Wicked Tony peformance, thought: "Idina ain't that great," and moved on. I do listen to the show randomly, and I enjoy it. I've never seen it live, and I probably won't... unless it's somehow free.

Yeah, all of that is embarrassing. I listen to mostly Company and the Sweeney Revival CR now... does that redeem me any?

because you are new, I will not say what I'd like to....but this is an OFF-TOPIC board.....translation, NOT THE ON-TOPIC BROADWAY BOARD....that's where this post should be.

I'm pretty positive this thread began on the main board, maybe I'm just crazy.

re: Whats wicked to you?

It did start on the Broadway board.

I listened to it almost everyday, until I found the Wicked Tony peformance, thought: "Idina ain't that great," and moved on.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure Idina was sick for that performance. Correct me if I'm wrong.

re: Whats wicked to you?

i understand being fair to her, but it'd be different if she sounded any different for any other performances. The OBCR recording is the only decent Idina version of that song i have heard thus far. that being said, Idina in my opinion is one of the most overrated broadway actresses today. Although i did like her as Amneris.

what gets me is all my thespian buddies who KNOW that there's stuff better than wicked (if not much better) and yet they still insist on playing it day in and day out with no plans to stop. the problem isn't the preteens who love it and yet know nothing else, its the people who should know better that persist to belt it out.

i listen to my OBC very rarely nowadays, but even when i do i skip straight to Defying Gravity, Thank Goodness (only to hear Kristen), and No Good Deed. in fact, if i listen to Wicked period its usually a live performance from Shoshana or Eden (two actually good Elphabas).

Um... no clue. It wasn't like a one viewing and that's it, she isn't any good. I watched other performances I could find, and the phase just sort of... well, phased out.

Kitzarina, thats a nice picture of you.
Now back on topic, It's an interesting story. I like it. Not enough to do a youtube ,but I like it. I would never sing one of it's songs and honestly I doubt it'll ever make it's way back to b-way after it closes. But, for now. . .I like it.
I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.
