So, I feel out of the loop and was curious as to where some of you guys are from. . .I personally am in the Central Pennsylvania area and will be moving towards Pittsburgh this summer. . .
Lake Summerset, IL.
you feel out of the loop? i'm in the middle of northern Illinois, and on a good day, it takes 2 1/2 hours to get to chicago. and i don't want to think how long it would take to get to NYC
Orange County, CA.
But, I think everyone, including myself, wont be far from NYC for too long!
Well out of the loop as in I don't know anyone, been in two shows, seen two on Broadway, and don't really know that many at all yet. . .I joined drama late. . .not until my junior year.
=/
i will. i want to go to school there though for college. but it's super-duper expensive.
at least you've been to broadway. =/
Yeah, I love theater and all, but I'm not going extremely out of my way for schooling in it. . .I'm going to Pitt to major in physical therapy and maybe minor in theater. . .I have, however, gone through a good few classes around here and hope to continue in a few of the many school unrelated theaters in the area. . .at least.
i've been in love with theater like all my life, but i want to do music education, and if possible, double major in theater as well
You all sound so sad about your theatre experiences. I'm just gonna commit to my starry eyed dreams and make it happen. I know it. But, you both sound like you know what you want and do what makes you happy.
Performing is the only thing that makes me TRULY happy. So, I gotta do it!
:)
Well, NYU may not be the best place to look for Music Ed (I looked into it for a while because I'm a band/chorus/theater/all around music geek). . .You could check places like Eastman or Peabody if you really don't mind paying. . .or you could do a smart thing and attend a normal college and then put out the money for a graduate program at a place like that. . .
And to Leah's post:
Yeah, being on stage is something that really, really does make me happy. . .I just have a few ways to get there =P (I play trumpet, do theater, am a semi-pro magician, etc.). Also, I would love to make performing my life, but I have this nagging feeling that it wouldn't be as simple as that. . .If I'm going to make it to the big stage, it'll probably be because of what I figured out on my own not because of what my college professor taught me. . .I'm weird about art like that. . .
i'm also thinking about northwestern in evanston, il or roosevelt uni in chicago
Cool. . .I wouldn't worry too much at this point though. . .you've got plenty of time.

Don't worry, you'll be able to see a lot of theatre in Pittsburgh. It's where I live too! =)
You think you're out of the loop? I'm from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Can't get any further from Broadway than that.
I'll be moving to Oklahoma City in August for school though. Thats a small step up!
you've got california close-ish though.
