I've done a lot of acting and performing on stage and have always had a blast, but recently I got to stage manage my first show for a production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown. After having experience with both aspects of the theatre, I think I like acting better overall, but I had more fun and made closer freinds as a SM. What do you like better?

I love both! I can't really decide.
Both is fun for me as well. I guess it really depends on the job too. I really haven't done too much technical theater, besides helping to build and paint sets once for a theater production. But, I guess my experience with television production could be a bit similar. Maybe not all the way, but a little.
I like getting up to perform sometimes. Especially if the material is right and I just have a good feeling about it. But, I really enjoy working behind the scenes too, whether all I did was running the camera for some event that needed to be filmed, or running the audio board for that. Actually, editing video footage is fun too.
However, if I had to choose between acting and being director, I think I would rather act. I had a really aweful experience in my television production class, where it was my turn to be the director for a class project. We were just rotating positions for short 7 minute shows. Well, I totally got scared and confused, and sort of just froze in my position wanting to give people directions on what to do, but even I had no idea what I was doing. Needless to say, I was able to redeem myself on my horrid performance on that with everything else I was really good at. And interestingly enough, it was the talent positions I was really good at.
I've only done acting, but I think techies would have a lot of fun too!
Directing.
techie. hands down.
Directing.
Yes. Especially when you have a great cast.
I've worked on both sides and it's been fun. I had a great time being a stagehand at the Tilles Center when I went to college in New York. The people there were a blast to be with. I do enjoy being onstage, as well. The best casts I've been in were The Music Man (one rehearsal all of us Pick-a-Little Ladies dressed up as CLUE characters (our theme was "who killed Eulalie Shinn?")), West Side Story, The General of Hot Desire, and Snoopy!

It depends on how good the techies connections are.
Preach DG!
I have found that being IN the show is a more rewarding experience and that the actors ACT alot nicer.
BUT the techies are more fun and trustworthy. And they never buy schwag.
