Does ANYONE call it their "friend" anymore??? Geez, Brd, maybe you ARE older than I am!

brd - you need to get over to the kidnapping thread and help your fellow lawyer out!
I think we are leaving it at a draw.
Either that, or I am just full of gobbleygook.
I have no idea what you all are talking about, I'm going to bed.

DG, I glanced at it and knew that it would take much of the night to review all of the posts. I spent most of today dictating an Illinois Litigation Outline, so I am off tonight!
I believe it is a friend that visits monthly.
And Brd, it went off on a few tangents - the last was whether Patti Hearst was a fair analogy to the Austrian kidnap victim. I thought not, she thought so.
It all started on whether the parents should be able to determine what happens to their daughter, who is a legal adult. She thought so, I thought not.
And, then I was given an instruction on precedent and the use of analogy in civil/common law. When I tried to explain how cases with similar facts can be distinguished and found to be not on point, it was not well received.
I guess I need to go back to school - it has been a few years.

My probate experience is limited, I did have a son appointed guardian of his father once. It was a lot of work!
You mean you couldn't just walk into court and declare a legal adult incompetent without affidavits from professional and an advocate representing the case of the adult - GASP!
Don't get me started again.
I actually, in my prior life as an actual lawyer, rather than a corporate lawyer, have dealt with conservatorships and guardianships issues, and understand that it is not an easy thing to declare someone incompetent. Even those who are emotionally scarred may not be legally incompetent to make decisions for themself.

Mine was easy, the record was clear was that he was long gone. The court appointed a guardian and he agreed.
Dame appointed me as guardian and I answered one question when he was celebrity of the day! It was easy - I did not know the answer!
C ot D by Proxy.
Is that the same as Munschausen by Proxy?

Are you saying that I am sick by his 420?
Munschausen by Proxy is perplexing. When we were young parents a high fever was so distressing, I cannot imagine faking it!
Oy. I missed a long night, I see.
Is that anything like Baron Munchausen?
Seriously, I cannot imagine doing that to a child.
It is almost like a firefighter setting fires to get attention for putting it out.
But, I don't want to draw any anologies for a while . . .
*pets hugs and cuddles the hurt zorra*
Harris! Are you okay down there?
*Zorra and Stoli send the cows buckets and bandaids*
Thanks Harris.
Stay dry and safe.
Apparently we get a day without rain tomorrow. I'm excited.
busy night in mojitoland!
DD, you oughta be in whitecosmoland!!!!
I can't wait to get that recipe.
You all are invited to my white cosmo party... the only requirement is to a) well, show up, and b) bring a martini glass that you have to leave behind.
Basically, it's my VERY late house-warming party. I have really cool exposed glass shelves, and I want a wide variety of martini glasses.
In a variety of colors?
