Tink - I decided many years ago never to discuss that 'movie' - it would only lead to a bleeding ulcer.
If you haven't seen ACL on stage, please do.
*phew* that's good to know. They scared me, lol! The singing was god awful (I know, they aren't supposed to be great singers, that's why they are auditioning for chorus, but yikes)!
Hairline fracture??? yikes!! Listen to whatever the dr tells you to do, last thing you want is to make it worse!!!
Well, the movie was also from a time when dancers DANCED - there weren't as many triple threats, as one is expected to be today.
& I will listen to him... I think. No complaining; it was my own fault, as I am a COMPLETE clutz. I am a dancer who cannot walk on her own two feet!
I did fall in love with the Paul character...he was the only one I felt anything for.
aww, well just take it easy LG!!
Well, finally starting to feel better, hopefully it's only up from here.
I am going to the invited dress for the ballet tomorrow. These people can dance.
*panting*
Sorry it took me so long to read your question about the ACL movie, Tink, and no, I'm not talking about a knee-injury movie, though that would be appropriate being what we're discussing...
The movie was my first exposure to the show, and at the time I loved it. Then I saw the show. It's amazing how Sir Richard Attenborough could totally miss the point ENTIRELY (redundant, I know - I'm making a point) about the show, and it has nothing to do with people's ability to sing or act, or even dance for that matter, in the movie. It has to do with the spirit, THE POINT.
Ok. Gotta stop now.
Tink, check out this post - then you can check out the entire thread - started when we were all anxiously awaiting the revival of A Chorus Line.
PalJoey's A Chorus Line post
I knew nothing of the show before the revival came about. I read up on it and bought the Cast Recording. I didn't really catch on at first (except for the beauty of Mr Hanes) but it eventually grew on me. Popping in this movie now, kinda sorta ruined it for me. Of course I'm still going to see the actual show if I get a chance, but if I wasn't a broadway advocate, I could definitely see this as a major turn off.
But as Miss P, Gunn, & I discussed this weekend I kinda had the same feelings about the "Cabaret" movie as well. I'm not having much luck with this broadway movie catch up goal, lol!
**post addition** Wow that post left me breathless DD! Thank you for sharing that!
There ARE good movie musicals, Mo!
haha, I know Miss P., I just haven't started out on the right track yet, lol! =) I won't give up!
I liked the Cabaret but it was a shame so much of the score was cut
The score was eviserated for A Funny Thing . HBO shouls take nathan Lane & bring him to the Rome set (if not already demolished) & do a really great Funny Thing
the cows bring in ice tea,
Forum - I remember the first time I saw that when I was young. i really have to dig that one out and watch it again soon.
Drink for anyone that's still alive around here...
Oh that looks yummy!
I had a bit too much Shiraz last night -- but that doesn't mean I can't have fun tonight!
Hey, it's your spring break, you are supposed to live it up, or something like that!
Yes. I've been doing plenty of that. I love seeing old friends.
Hi Shira. I have been so busy this week. i just got home. And tomorrow is a 5 am day. What are you doing this weekend?
That's cool! Hopefully I will kinda be doing that on Friday. Our receptionist is leaving my job, so a boat load of us are getting together for happy hour/early St Patrick's day celebrations. A lot of people that used to work there are supposed to show, so it should be a good time. Let's just hope my stomach is up to it by then.
Buzz went ahead and put the final payment down for our cruise, yay! Something to look forward too!
