I find that I can't enjoy a meal unless the silverware is top notch.

I can get fabulous sacks of plastic silverware in any color, including lavender, at the dollar shop near me.

Just topnotch, conversation pieces.

Does this include sporks?

You should pardon the expression, but I am a tad queer for flatware.

I like it to have a certain heft and there is little more annoying than a small spoon. Very little of mine matches and I like it that way. I have well over a hundred pieces that I don't use and yet I paw through thrift shop bins for more.

The NY Sheraton has pretty good flatware as does Trattoria del'Arte which is just up 7th Avenue. Both have huge forks that could double as weapons and their soup spoons are next to Godliness. It is a fairly common type of silver-plated flatware, but its very high end utiliarian.

If you're looking to buy decent flatware, I'd suggest Fishes Eddy. Its a great place to start and you can buy by the piece and try patterns out.

I told you I was queer for flatware.

And even those funny wedge spoons you get in Chinese restaurants with soups.

What about pickle forks?

Most people don't understand how important pickle forks are

And butter knives.

Where would the world be without butter cutting up?

Do chopsticks go in the silverware category?

I know they're eating utensils, but I've always thought of them as in the chopstick category rather than silverware... never seen silver chopsticks.

I uppose we could put the chopsticks in the drawer section with the long-handled ice tea spoons, which have always been my favorite kind of spoon, by the way...

Good chopsticks, heavy duty plastic reusable ones, are also very handy for city gardening and scratching your back when you cannot reach that certain spot.

I keep them with misc. utensils.

Who needs a pickle fork when you have fingers?

Butter knives are lovely but often just one more damn thing to wash.

Wedge spoons are okay for getting to the won tons, but aesthetically they blow. Not worth swiping.

Plastic flatware may be a contributing factor to the fall of Western Civilization as we know it. Plus it often breaks which blows double.

The only thing worse than a flatware queen is someone who has no preference. Zounds!
