Just hung up with my friend from CA. Actually, that's NJ, now. A month or so ago, she calls me and tells me she might be moving back here. I said something or other back to her. She said I don't sound too excited. I told her that when she called me with a local phone number, then I'd get excited. We've been friends since childhood until her folks ripped her away from me in our mid-teens to move to AZ. By way of AZ and Nevada, she ended up in CA about 10 or 11 years ago. Just now, she calls me from her cell, so I think she's still in CA and tells me that, though she doesn't have a phone yet, she's got an address, but isn't living there. She figured that would then convince me she was here, and if I didn't believe her, to drive past her cousin's house and I'd see the moving truck with all her earthly possessions parked in front. So then she says I still don't sound excited. I told her I was in shock. I cannot believe she did this. CA. NJ. CA. NJ. No contest. CA wins out for me. I cannont believe, after all this time, she's back here.

Exciting, but scary. We are so different. I've often wondered over the years, if she had never moved away, if we would still be friends after all this time. There are so many things we both believe in, that the other scoffs at. I'm almost afraid, having easier access to each other, other than a visit once a year or so, and talking on the phone, might do more harm than good. That might be part of the reason why I'm not experiencing the excitement that I should be.
