I think this is an easy way to do it!
This is just itunes, videos and documents and pics will come next!
Ok, I lied. This is just the songs that I have uploaded from CDs. Which are 930.
I have all the downloaded music next, which is another 1000 songs.
This could take a few days, I'm thinking.

How are you transferring the files?
IMing them to myself from my old computer to my new one.

In the name of all that is good and holy, you must be kidding me???? Buy a USB drive, or use some other means!!!! Do you mean that you are using the internet to transfer thousands of files to two computers in the same room?
Um, yes. Is that a bad thing?

It just seems silly, but if it works, so be it!
It's working, it will be done by Friday. Maybe.
So tell me, bitches, are Mojitos good? I don't drink much but I am thinking I must try one of these little buggers.
Liotte, honey, you can get a jump drive for like $30 to save you a LOT of trouble. I wish I was in the city, I would let you use mine.
All drinks are welcome here, doesn't have to just be mojitos!
And what is a jump drive? For $30 I will go buy one myself, but I'm not very technical. I'm good at transferring files on AIM.
This is just one example. There are tons of brands. You can get them at any store that sells electronics. You can take files from your computer, put them on this tiny little thing and then plug it into your new computers USB and take them back off. Circuit City has them for $19.99. Best Buy's site is down, but I know they have them, too.
Just to show you the size:
A LOT less time than IMing them. You can probably get the whole thing done in an hour or less. It could take a little more depending on how much you have on there. I don't know if I would have brought half of the music off my old computer if a friend had not told me to get one of these.
Hmm, interesting....
I will have to look into that!
Yeah, I just offered my external hard drive to Liotte.
Oh, and this is officially the coolest thing ever.
Its a USB and Swiss Army Knife!
What happens if you bring that gadget on the plane Shira?
And Jersey and Shira, I have 2 files transferring- my itunes, and my downloaded music. I'll let it be overnight, and while I am at work tomorrow, and it will be done when I get home tomorrow night.
Well, I guess I'll have to remember to check it in my luggage!

Shira, I hope that you got some sleep.
It is sunny and gorgeous here today!!!! Great article in the NYT about Chicago. Check it out.
Liotte;
You should get a external harddrive of some sort anyway.

My hard drive failed earlier in the year and all was lost! Back up!
Abolutely. All important stuff should be backed up in a external hard drive. All of it.

You can also back up to an internet site. We do that at the office. Then, the data is offsite in the event of fire, etc.
True. There are lots of options.

My way is working very well. Over 600 songs are done.
