Shira - admit you have a problem!
I'll sit down and rest while you recount all you have a problem with
#4051re: Who needs a MOJITO time? ( Volume 5 )
Posted: 5/19/06 at 2:56amI already admitted that. What's step 2?

Posted: 5/19/06 at 2:59amLiotte - that's all I know. I gave up on 12-stepping almost immediately - when I found out their whole premise was, "You don't have the power yourself . . ."

If you do a 12 step program, you have to give up your addiction. I'm not willing to do that.
Time for bed, night!

The 12 Steps:
1. We admitted we were powerless over our addiction - that our lives had become unmanageable
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character
7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God's will for us and the power to carry that out
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs

DD - thanks for sharing that.
I still say, "Bleh."
#4057re: Who needs a MOJITO time? ( Volume 5 )
Posted: 5/19/06 at 3:07amI see it as a tool. It works for some, not for others. I had a hard time with it because it's more religious than they admit to. But I acknowledge how some people's lives have been changed for the better thanks to programs like AA and NarcAnon.

Posted: 5/19/06 at 3:09amMy opposition to the religious aspect could pretty much be assumed. It's still the whole 'you are powerless' aspect that REALLY gets to me.

Well... I do believe some people get to that point, where their addiction takes over their lives and nothing else matters.
Anyway... I've gotta head to bed. I'm crashing fast. Have a good night sir! Lovely to see you, I wish I wasn't so damned tired.
*hugs*

12 steps - that is easy, grab two six packs and open them one at a time until you get to twelve.
Speaking of which, I think we have about 12 make up softball/baseball games this weekend due to all of the rain in the last few weeks.
Happy Friday.

Hi DD. Have a great weekewnd. Well.. I am off to a breakfast meeting with my boss. French Toast at Hamburger Hamlet. Lucky I did a extra 30 minutes on the treadmill. That way I don't feel like such a beached whale after.
