Okay, if the Mods won't move it, I will. I inadvertently posted this thread on the Main Board. So sue me!
Anyway... let's see if the OT brethren will respond and participate.

I'm watching that '60s Animagic classic "Mad Monster Party" by Rankin Bass... and I pose this question: Who's your favorite?
Dracula? Frankenstein? The Wolf Man? The Invisible Man? The Phantom of the Opera? The Mummy? The Bride of Frankenstein? Igor? The Beast With Five Fingers? The Creature From the Black Lagoon? The Headless Horseman?
...or perhaps one of the modern "scaries": Jason, Freddy Kruger, Michael Myers, Leather Face, etc.
...or a more realistic terror: Jack the Ripper? Charles Manson?
I'm curious... who? ...or WHAT? is your favorite?
...and no fair naming other BWW posters.
I'll start. Mine has always been Dracula. As a kid, I loved that he could change himself into a bat and FLY. I always had flying dreams as a wee tyke. I also liked that he dressed up for the occasion. I digged the long cape, the suit/tux, the Count medal, and the widow's peak. As I got older, I appreciated his more "adult" traits... preying by night, sucking the life out of unsuspecting victims... forever young and immortal... charismatic and attractive. What's not to love?

Besty, good thread, so why has no one responded?
I am still frightened of Freddy Krueger, because he kills you in your sleep, which to me is the most vulnerable time when you have no control.
Freddy most definetly . . . Then Michael Myers
I find Ed Gein prett frightening. I watched a True Hollywood Story on serial killers, and Ed was featured.
Needless to say, I had a tough time getting to sleep that night.
I'm definitely most afraid of Freddy Krueger, for the same reason as bbabe, but as for FAVORITES, I'd have to go with Dracula. The guy just has style, y'know?

I always loved Batman when I was kid. The cape, the mask, the awesome utility belt, the killer car, he was so cool! Who wouldn't want to pick someone up off the ground and say, "I'm Batman!".
Right now, I'm really into The Phantom of the Opera, which is a pretty cool costume. You've got the tailsuit, mask, fedora, and dramatic black cloak. It looks and feels awesome.
Darth Vader would be a cool one too, although I don't have enough money to afford a good-quality costume.
Bad Ash, is my favorite right now from Evil Dead 3 or Army of Darkness. Though Freddy scares the beegeevers out of me and is funny to watch made fun of. Seeing his Movies one time was enough for me.
Next to the Evil Dead Classics my other two favorites are, In the Mouth of Madness ~everything evil in it, by John Carpenter and Lord of Illusions ~ The Puritan (yikes!), by Clive Barker. Most King Movies get honorable mention though. Depending greatly on the cast.
I was afraid of scary Movies as a kid. I had to watch some of them though because my Brother would tease me but he would have to tell me what was happening when it got too scary for me. My favorite was Gomez Addams and all of the Addams Family characters. That and The Munsters.

Frankenstein from "Frankenstein" and "Bride of Frankenstein". Boris Karloff made the monster both frightening and sympathetic - and the makeup up is remarkable.

Glebby---LOL!
I thought this thread was "dead" and gone.
Do you know what else I think of as a "horror story" with a memorable leading character?
A.I. Artificial Intelligence
That movie and Haley Joel Osment's character gave me nightmares for weeks.
It's a variation on the Frankenstein/Pinocchio/Pygmalion theme (yes, they are all similar), but it HAUNTS me to no end.
Deeply disturbing.
Favorite - Dracula. (When he looks like Frank Langella)
Scariest - The Gentlemen, from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer
The Gentlemen ROCKS, Mamie!
So does Langella in Dracula, IMO. Excellent choices.
aw - thanks....

Great choices! Bela Lugosi's Dracula was a big favorite of mine as a kid. And the Blob! I loved the Blob. I also think Jack Torrance from The Shining is horrifying. Formerly loving father gets possessed by hotel, goes on killing spree? Creepy!!
Kudos to Erika for "the blob" and Jack Torrance!
