You can just change your settings so it doesn't show up when you're online. Some people prefer to lurk with intent...naming no names.

On the left hand--choose "Settings" under red "Site" banner.
Scroll down.
"Show in who's on-line" option will be displayed. You can choose "Yes" or "No."
