Why You Won't See LuPone Gypsy on PBS

Just making sure I follow.
The City of LA is donating money to book fairs in Mexico, so PBS won't film "Gypsy" for "Great Peformances."
Is that it?

You are correct. And Republicans think that people should be free to enjoy whatever they want, except for drugs and gay sex.

So the coke-fueled orgy I was planning to celebrate the broadcast of "Gypsy" is off?

$1.6 million could go a long way toward getting a taped version of LuPone Gypsy.

But I don't see anywhere that it says that the money LA is spending is being funneled from PBS allocations.

Well now we don't have to wonder anymore whether or not "The Light in the Piazza" was responsible for that jump in international illiteracy rates a few years ago.

The money is coming from the National Endowment of the Arts. The NEA should be offering the money to fund LuPone Gypsy or one of the other Broadway or regional productions.
Anyone remember how many plays were on PBS in the 1970s? Go to the Broadway Theatre Archive and take a look at all of them. There's about 70 of them.

I'd rather see the SOUTH PACIFIC, but that won't happen either.

I'll bet they'd have found the money to film it if Patti hadn't left such a nasty message on Hunter and Jeff's answering machine.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Methinks it's not so much the books that are the problem, but more the Mexicans.

Goth--thanks so much for the laugh! That's the most hilarious leap of logic I've heard in a long while.
You've truly outdone yourself, which is really saying something.
Bravo!

Ah. At long last. FindingNamo, meet Reginald Tresilian. Reggie, Namo.
The two of you have much in common. When you are good, you are very, very good.
And when you are bad, you are glorious.
Oh, and Goth, butch it up.

I returned like the Cat in the Hat for Reggie's debut party, 'member?
And Goth, you didn't have anywhere near as lovely a time as I did in jail.
[Speaking of: Big shout outs to Hoss, Girth, and Meat Johnnie! See you again when you get out. xo, with love from your lil boo, "soapy butt." xo]

At least I have my complimentary Patti Lupone ringtones to keep me company.

Isn't it weird when they try to make Company take place today and they leave a line about the pulse of the city being a busy signal?

If you are P.O.ed about how the NEA is spending their money on namby-pamby pursuits, you have your own party to thank, Goth.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Did anyone else hear that there'll be no more "Keeping Up Appearances" on PBS next year?
I didn't get the full story. Something about Mexicans starting to read . . . ?
