What is the main reason why you are voting this presidential election?
Because thousands of women risked a lot to give me the right to vote in the first place and it would be extremely ungreatful of me to ignore their plight? Or maybe because I'm sick of hearing people whine about things when they don't do what they can to make them better?
You know I love you Cruel, but this is the stupidest thread you've ever started. By a very long shot.
It's not that stupid. It sounds pretty plausible to me, considering the voting statistic has been insanely low, especially for young people. 2004 was what mattered the most, and people did not come through. 2008 is the year to come through..
For me, it's change (I know Obama has used this word to death). It's the most necessary thing we need right now. We need clarity and peace of mind, and we're not going to get that unless things change.
I've recently had a conversation with a family friend (democrat, as am I), and she pointed out the flaws in both democratic candidates. John Edwards should come back into the race once all this Hilary/Obama hype has died down, and he shall win the election.
JOHN EDWARDS '08. UNDERDOGS, people. Underdogs.

So I can bitch if another republican gets elected.
I always vote. Since the first election after I turned 18, I always have. I had to fly home from Kansas City once to make sure I was able to because I didn't have a chance to do absentee or early voting. I think this is probably the most important election of my adult life so far. Anyone who is legally able and doesn't vote is an absolute idiot in my book.

To keep the Democrats from making the US a Communist country where 100% of a person's paycheck goes straight to the government.
Kitz, wins the prize, as this is the single most stupid post ever done by Cruel
To continue the Democrats' evil plot to make the US a Communist country where 100% of a person's paycheck goes straight to the government.
Bwahahaha!
Goth,
What portion of your paycheck goes to the government now, Iraqi that is? You can ratchet up the percentage several notches if by some curse on the electorate McCain is elected.
Also, how big a chunk of it goes to the largest corporate welfare package in the history of the Republic, i.e. farm subsidies? Once again I've provided a link to article by a source you'll find reputable.
Some of us are not going to let you take the "conservative" high road above us.

Why am I voting? Because my grandmother went to jail for this right. Why am I voting? Because it is my civic duty. Why am I voting,? Because this country is in an unjust war and I have a son serving in the USAF. More than enough reasons. But I vote because it really DOES matter.
"Kitz, wins the prize, as this is the single most stupid post ever done by Cruel "
And Gothampc wins the prize as the single most stupid reply to any post.

javero, we can sit around and parse the entire US budget about how taxes are spent. The point is that Democrats have a long history of raising taxes. I'm not pleased with what the Republicans have done fiscally in the last several years but at least they are not trying to force me into healthcare or taxing me for global warming.
I didn't answer the question. I see it as my civic duty. I'm as much as stakeholder as any other taxpayer and/or concerned citizen of the US.
Goth--pick your poison, higher taxes or uncapped spending. until we have a congress with a backbone and a true patriot as president who doesn't use "executive orders" to circumvent the separation of powers doctrine to become the latest caesar, i see no end to your and my quibbling over the national budget and the definition of a fiscal conservative.
while no one would ever accuse me of being in lock step philosophically with the late William F Buckley, Jr., it took a conservative stalwart of his stature to call out Dubya for the war-mongering, empire-building, partisan spendthrift that he is.
Buckley: Bush Not a True Conservative
I always vote because I care about having a say in who runs our government.
In this election, it is vital that a Democrat is elected as the next President could be selecting about 3 US Supreme Court Justices.
Well, I live in Florida, so for me the question is: "Why do you still try to vote, since they probably won't count it anyway?"
I will say that Florida's vote may not count in this primary, it sure does help Hillary's argument should she take Texas and Ohio and Penn.
People can bicker all they please, she won Florida with record Dem turnout. And that would mean she won all the big states and the 3 major swing states.
JRB: yeah, there's that... and there's also the 2006 Congressional race in my district, which wound up mysteriously 18,000 votes short in a race decided by less than 400 votes. To say nothing of 2000, when I wasn't living here yet.

I'm voting to hand over the rule of this country to the Democrat/Al Queda coalition that is not only going to take every dime you make and give it to Unwed gay parents, but is going to take away your guns and force people to use the US FLAG as toilet paper? And why? Because I and every single democrat (and many mdoerate republicans) HATE THIS COUNTRY.
Trust me, slim--I don't have much confidence in our voting system either. 2000 was a big eff u to Florida. 2004 was to Ohio.
Because I can.
"To get Bush and Cheney out of the White House."
Uhm, they HAVE to leave... Your voting or not voting won't change that.

What about Billy Bush from Entertainment Tonight?
"Cheney doesn't, he could run for Prez. And Jeb Bush could run for either office. Maybe I should have said to keep anyone with those last names from coming back in."
But, they aren't...
