Why doesn't Hollywood ask the public what re-makes we want

After sitting through two friends fighting over the value of "The Dukes of Hazard" movie I want to know:

Why doesn't Hollywood ask us which TV shows we want to see given big screen treatment. Will the next years be filled with quality transfers (The Brady Bunch Movie, The Addam Family & it's sequel, etc) OR

"According to Jim, the Movie"
"Yes, Dear: The early years"

Sorry, but if they want to win MY heart they need to do something like "Here Comes the Brides"...with Hugh Jackman as one of the Bolt Brothers.
