Greg Kinnear is SO underrated. One of the reasons being he makes terrible movies. Somebody stop him.

If they must remake, I would rather they do it to things like this than "Gone With The Wind" or "The Wizard of Oz". If they do those, I'm going to do a Dollypop and quit going to the movies.

How's this? Remake films that had potential but were ruined due to actor, director, editing, etc. Leave the greats alone!

I agree. Movies that should be redone include Stargate, Water World, every batman movie after the second one

I can think of more outrageous ideas for re-makes than the BAD NEWS BEARS. I loved BAD SANTA and Linklater's direction saved SCHOOL OF ROCK...I can't say I'm dying to see this one, but it isn't as offensive to me as, say, THE WOMEN or WILLY WONKA (I don't give a fawk that Johnny Depp is in it and Tim Burton is directing!)

c'mon folks, people have been re-making movies as long as there's been film. a very, very short list of successful and less successful re-makes:
the maltese falcon 1931, 1941

gaslight 1940, 1944

little women 1917, 1918, 1933, 1949, 1994

chicago (non-musical) 1927, 1942 (as roxie hart)

the front page 1931, 1940 (as his girl friday), 1974

scarface 1932, 1983

the big sleep 1946, 1978

heaven can wait 1943, 1978

the three musketeers 1916, 1921, 1935, 1939 (a musical no less!), 1948, 1973, 1993

Papa, I think you missed at least a couple of versions of The Three Musketeers, actually. Or at least movies involving the Musketeers. Because I distinctly remember going to see The Man in the Iron Mask and The Musketeer after 1993. The former was bad; the latter was just laughably awful.

plum i left out the man in the iron mask because it was itself a re-make of films made in 1929 (as the iron mask)and 1939 (this one directed by gods and monsters subject james whale).

as far as the mussketeer, i saw it, but didn't feel that it made the cut as a film. music video maybe.

I agree that the original BEARS is awesome and that it would be cool to see good scripts from bad films remade into good films. However--that IS a kickass creative team. I suspect this could be a good film--and it doesn't diminish the original by being made.
