Don't approach her as she goes in the stage door. It's extremely rude, and the more time she spends with you the less time she has to prepare.

Yes.
And she will be FORCED to use FORCE on you if you approach her before the show.

or piss her off
if you can't wait for her after the show then pick another day
unforunately based on the message board posts, some WICKED fans, not saying the one who posted this question is one of them, have gotten into the habit of waiting before a show because there are less people so they get more "attention"; not a good thing

Shosanna, I dont know what time. However, I'd say if you're there 1.5 hours ahead of time, youd be good. The stage door dude or stage crew or someone will probably ask you who you are waiting for and may help you out. I saw Idina going into the Stage Door when I was waiting for Kristin and that was like, I THINK if I remember correctly, about an hour before the show. Some performers don't mind before hand, some do. I met up with Carole Shelly before hand and she was VERy gracious. Took a pic even though she had no makeup and sunglasses on. Idina, ran into the door, someone noticed it was her and stopped her and she said come back after the show and quickly just signed a program. Kristin was also VERY kind and sat down and talked to everyone, and took a picture. Hugh Jackman over at Boy From Oz, of course was very kind and took pics with everyone who wanted one. Norbert at Wicked door was kind of hanging around with Kristin. (Nobody was talking to him, but would have been more than happy to chat).
Try it. Worst thing that will happen is shell tell you to come back.

If an actor or actress has their "groove" thrown off by someone talking to them before the show, they must be a pretty terrible performer.
hmmm...

Posted: 7/13/05 at 6:37pmThe best time to reach Shoshana is actually when she pops out of the trap door at the end of ACT 11. There aren't any fans waiting for her then, except for the actor playing Fieyro, and she's already signed his autograph dog.

I'm with you on this JERA
I met Bernadette Peters before one her last performances of GYPSY so i'm sure she had a lot on her mind, but she still stopped to chat and had time to sign my GYPSY poster and get a few pics with me and my family....and her performance was definitely not throw off that night...I think thats just a poor excuse for an actress who thinks shes a lot bigger than she is (shoshana i mean)....prior to wicked....Shoshana who?

I don't know- Its a touchy subject and ultimately its up to the performer to decide how they handle the situation- There is no way they SHOULD act as they are not required to do anything beside provide the best damn show they can for you, but there are ways you'd like them to act and I, like most, always appreciate when actors are gracious...For me, during the few professional shows I've done- I feel that it is my DUTY to be kind to anyone who approaches me before OR after the show and I genuinely want to show my thanks to the audience not only because its polite, but because it makes me happy- I also do shows at my Performing Arts High School in NYC- where we put on professional productions in the fall and Spring...I played Jack in ITW and often prospective students attend the shows to get a taste of what my school is all about- And I've had people approach me and tell me that they enjoyed my performance and ask if I wouldnt mind talking about my school and my experience doing the show and I ALWAYS comply because I get satisfaction out of being enthusiastic and nice...After all, I would love to be treated the same way if I were the one off the stage
As for Shoshana, I'd say go for it- and If she's truly thankful to be where she is, she will take the time to acknowledge how much you love her and the show...And if she doesn't? No big deal-Its her loss not being able to talk to an excited fan...Hope I was of some help!

Posted: 7/13/05 at 7:42pmThanks NYCorBust! I just think that performers don't owe you a picture or a greeting- but If they truly care, Its not a terrible burden to stop and show some appreciation for a fan...I once spotted Shoshana on the street and told her how much I enjoyed her choices as Elphaba, she was very kind and obviously took the time to recognize my compliment. That's all it takes- two seconds to make a fan happy...Still, Shoshana would still be excellent if she had walked right past me, a nasty soul, but still justified. THANK GOODNESS(pun totally intended) she was gracious!

Posted: 7/13/05 at 7:51pmI'm sure Shoshana wont have a religious routine she has to keep because firtsly that's called obsessive compulsive disorder and means anything could throw her off a performance... secondly i'd bet she doesn't want her whole life running as a script when a large chunk already is. I say go for it, have a natter and a photo... if she asks you to return after the show you've not lost anything!
