I'm going to New York this summer and I can't decide which show do go to!
I've narrowed it down to Wicked, Newsies, or Phantom.
I have seen Wicked on tour...but I am a HUGE Wicked fan and would love to see it on Broadway too.
Input? Suggestions?

Wicked in NY is the same production as Wicked on the road.
Same with Phantom.
And when Newsies tours, as it undoubtedly will, it will be the same production as playing in NY.
(Ditto Jersey Boys, Lion King, Mary Poppins, Mormon.)
Wait for the new crop of shows to come in the winter and spring. By all accounts Matilda is very good plus there will be others.
And Once is the polar opposite of the three musicals you listed. It is quiet, captivating and utterly lovely.

Even though the Broadway production of Wicked is the same as the tour, as far as scenery and effects go it's MUCH better than the tour. There is so much detail put into this production that isn't on the tour.
Newsies is truly amazing. The songs, choreography, everything is just simply amazing... especially the choreography. One of the best Disney musicals.
Phantom is a classic, a true haunting love story.
If you're a huge Wicked fan, I think you'll have a better experience seeing the Broadway production.
But I do recommend seeing Newsies, it's something different and fun!
