I've only played with it for about 30 minutes or so. And clearly it's not a substitution for actually working out. But as a guide and interactive exercising - it's cool.

I'm going to pick mine up this evening.
I've read several reviews and it sounds like the common complaint (and one that I will share) is the inability to make a custom workout.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to it.

Posted: 5/21/08 at 4:50pmOn the news last night, they had a story where Nintendo had to issue an apology because some parent threatened to sue when it classified their 10-year-old daughter as overweight. All these people on the street were denouncing the game and said children shouldn't have to worry about being labeled. Um, if she's 10 years old and her BMI categorizes her as overweight, clearly she (and her frivolous-lawsuit-happy parents) DOES need to hear it and do something about it before it gets out of hand. Not to mention that's the point; if someone doesn't want to have their fitness assessed, they shouldn't have bought Wii Fit in the first place.

Posted: 5/21/08 at 5:35pmIsnt the BMI index viewed as misleading these days? I thought I read that, and especially for children.

Posted: 5/21/08 at 6:25pmI don't have the book (that came with the wii fit) right in front of me - but it did say something about those under 19 and BMI

Posted: 5/21/08 at 8:14pmI don't know how accurate the Wii fit is. I do know that things like the wii fit aren't as accurate as an actual scale is. It might be able to give you a sense of how much you actually weigh. But, it wouldn't be a smart move to rely totally on that and use it as a replacement scale.

Exact weight isn't relevant for weight loss purposes though. The key is whether or not it is consistent in the weight in order to monitor weight loss from the beginning.
I bet it's more accurate than your typical $20 bathroom scale.
