What kind of internet do you use? If it is cable or DSL you can buy a wireless router for about $60 and you don't have to plug in your computer. It's rather nicebecauseI can take my laptop anywhere in my place and just sit down and type. I personally don't think I'll ever go back to being hardwired again.
Some places offer wireless with the purchase or something, or they charge by the hour or half-hour. Do a google search of "Wi-fi hot spots and it will take you to a site that will tell you everyone around you who offers wireless in there shops and whether you have to pay or not.

THANKS for all the good information, Son...
I currently have Cable Modem Broadband, does that mean I need to keep the Cable Modem to use wireless?
Or can I just dump the Modem, buy a router, and sign up for Wireless?
(My PC has detected about 5 wireless services in my area)

Just a quick word of caution about pay-as-you-go wireless "hot spots" though, Mary. I just recently read something about people who go into places that offer that service with modems/radio/wireless internet thingys (I don't know what you call them) and override the signal that the location is putting out. So when you have to give your credit card information for the internet service, these people get your credit card info, because you're actually paying for THEIR service. So just be careful where you're surfing

There is a little bit of a set-up process and you will probably want to set up your network with a password so people can't get on your network and look at what you are doing. It is all pretty self-explanatory with the directions that come with the router itself.

I just talked to Comcast, my current Broadband Provider. They have their own wireless router which I could connect to without buying my own network router.
I'm going to try it!
