So, is there any reason I would want a wireless router AND a wireless notebook adapter?
I bought both, but am thinking I will take the adapter back.
Is there a reason to have both?
Help (I am one of the computer impaired).

I think you want the adapter if you have a distance between where you are using the laptop and the router.
Not completely sure.
hmmm, how big a distance, I wonder. I can take this all over the house. If it's for somehting down the street, I'll take the adapter back tomorrow as I'd never need it.
Um, I believe a wireless notebook adapter is a device that plugs into your laptop to make it wireless. If your notebook already has wireless capabilities built into it (as many do come with wireless), then it's not necessary. It's not about making the range of your wireless network bigger. If your laptop is wireless without the adapter, then you don't need the adapter.
oh those jerks at Best Buy said it had to be used in conjunction with a wireless router which I felt was strange. They smelled sucker a mile away. Thanks all....They'll get their little $109 adapter back today!
Taryn is right. If your laptop already has wireless capabilities, you don't need an adapter.
Just the router.
I loathe best buy.
Whether I go to a best buy in Manhattan, upstate New York, Georgia, Michigan, California, etc. - it's a horrid place.
99.999% of those employees have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. I only go there if I'm there and it's convenient. Otherwise, I save myself the frustration.

Totally agree about Best Buy. Haven't stepped foot in one for years, even if it was most convenient. I bought an air conditioner from them though several years ago....online.
