As a World Bank employee, I may be the only person here who cares. But just in case anyone else is intereseted, it looks like Wolfie might be on his way out:

Oh, I care! DEEPLY!
The British press reported yesterday that it was his 4-letter tirade against certain members of the board that was the last straw:
"If they **** with me or Shaha, I have enough on them to **** them too."
Angry Wolfowitz in four-letter tirade
I only care b/c I think he should resign and it looked like another case of Bush protecting his own.
i hope it doesn't affect your job in any negative way however.
It has already affected the entire World Bank in an extremely negative way: A once-august institution has been sullied, its principles negated, its reputation diminished, possibly forever, and the power granted to the United States to appoint the World Bank president has been, for the first time, questioned. After Wolfowitz, why should they let an American be president again?
The next ten years are going to see revelations of so much shameful similarly outrageous behavior that the Bush Administration got away with--or tried to!
Thanks for your concern tazber, but I'm so far down the totem pole in the Bank that this has absolutely no impact on me. And as I don't plan to pursue a long-term career with the Bank, the fact that many experts see the situation as the Bank's "death knoll" doesn't affect me either.
If he broke the rules and violated his contract, he should go--anything he does after the company has been made aware of his actions will be the reponsibility of the World Bank and they will he held liable for anything Wolfie does if they keep him.
They should drop him like he's hot.
Give him the keys to the street.
I say we put him to work in a Thai brothel....
Rumor is we should know something at 4pm.

Maybe it's just me, but what took him so long?
When trash starts to smell, toss it out.
So much for hearing something at 4. Bureaucracy kills the World Bank once again.
Apparently he is resigning, and the powers that be are currently in the process of negotiating the severance deal.
I Care!
Good riddance.
Only trouble is, he is vacant stop will be filled in my another Washington puppet who will continue policies that exploit the third world while "pretending" to give economic aid.
There have been whipers that the US might have to give up its power to choose the Bank's president as part of the deal. There are also whispers (and whispers only!) that Tony Blair might be a possible replacement. In which case, we avoid the Washington puppet issue.
And, BigFatBlone, I take a little bit of offense to your comments regarding the orgnization. Although the Bank is not perfect, the money it loans does a lot of good in the world. Unfortunately corruption (both in client governments and within the Bank) do a lot of damage, as does the improper actions of our senior management.
And just a minor point: we are not an "aid" organization.
Tony Blair might be a possible replacement. In which case, we avoid the Washington puppet issue.
Well...sort of.
And don't worry about BigFatBlonde.
She's a sockpuppet here herself.
I find much of what is done by the world bank to be offensive.

Nope
Roxy would only care if it were a CLINTON appointee.
The corruption of the Bush administration doesn't bother Roxy.
Leave the sick old man alone.
I don't like bullies.. even gay progressive ones.
Oh, I'm not a bully.
I'm Dorothy Gale. Of Kansas!
And all this time i thought you were only a friend of Dorothy, PJ. Its hard to tell with the anonymity of this board.
He has resigned effective June 30th.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Paul Wolfowitz resigned as World Bank president on Thursday, agreeing to step down as of June 30, the bank's board said in a statement.
"The executive directors acknowledge Mr. Wolfowitz's decision to resign as president of the World Bank group," the board said in a statement, adding that it would immediately start the search for a successor.
