This story makes me nausous.
Southwest have the right to refuse services to the woman. However, they must refund the money since they haven't fulfill their side of the bargain. If they've kept their money, they're obligated to fulfil their end of the transaction.
Just to be realistic... anyone who doesn't want their kids exposed to the word "F*ck" EVER has no business taking said kids anywhere that planes fly to.
Do I agree that it's bad manners? Indeed. But, realistically, people do what they want and if parents had a problem with it, it's a wonderful object lesson of "how I don't want you to behave." Not everything in life can be filtered.

Scream about how they're shafting her first amendment right all you want, the fact of the matter is that companies can refuse service to anyone. It's been like that for years.
forester and cruel, THEY DID NOT REFUSE SERVICES TO THE WOMAN....that's the damn point. They said nothing in the airport, they said nothing in the waiting area, they said nothing on the jetway, they said nothing on the first leg of her flight, AND let her fly that first leg of her trip with NO problem, and THEN said something when people complained. Southwest had no complaint...AT ALL........until some idiot complained.....perhaps you missed that part? This is not about refusing service (which a business has a right to do)....it's about politics.........
and vb, they also have always allowed knitting needles on planes, even after 9-11..........which I have never understood. I metal knitting needle will do much more harm that a small pocketknife

Ahh but it is NOT about politics.
Sure, they may have had no problem with it but the fact is if customers complain about it, they must take action. They have to make sure that the environment is a comfortable one for EVERYONE, especially if it's on an airplane.
I guarentee you the same thing would have happened if it had had a picture of a cartoon character or something.
It's issues like these which makes me proud to be an independant.
nope, I totally disagree with you.....it's purely politics. If I wear a t-shirt on a plane, with Scooby-Doo on it, and 3 people complain, they would NOT do anything........having been a flight attendent, I know that.
Of course I'd turn myself in to the fashion police for bad fashion, but that's about it.
Had they said something when she checked-in for the flight, I'd agree with you, but so long into the process, shows it's purely politics

Let us agree to disagree, good friend.
How about some ice fishin'?

Although i still hold that the "****" on the shirt was probably the clincher. I've seen anti-bush shirts on planes before and nobody cares.
of course......I can always agree to disagree.......(but can we do something other than ice-fishing? I don't eat fish).......how about attacking a bakery?
