It is all pretty darn scary. I have a son in the Air Force ROTC program at the University. He is safe until he graduates then he gets his commission, and he is IN the USAF for at lease 4 years. YIKES!

I think that, while it's entirely possible that, sometime in the next few decades, the world will be swept up in war, I don't think it likely that the government would christen it 'World War III,' if only to avoid the the negative opinions that such a name would stir up. We can leave that to the press.
Well, weren't both World Wars given those names after the wars were over?
Yes, they were.
Forester--I do not mean to imply that we are fully in the midst of WWIII. I believe we may be in the beginning of it. I think the War on Terror is WWIII. We are fighting in two countries and have great concerns for at least two others. And considering that terrorism is world wide and being fought on home turfs, I would say that it is a world war.
Sadly, it could easily be another 100 Years War.
Orwell wrote, in 1984, that a dictatorial government, in order to keep a population in line, will wage "perpetual war" against a vague enemy.
Well Orwell sure as hell got that right!
