I got food poisoning the day before I left for my choral competition in Virginia. I was puking all night and then the day I left I was fine. That night (the night before the 12 hour competition) my food poisoning kinda kicked in again and I spent two hours (starting at 4:30 in the AM)in the bathroom before I could get out to get to the nurse. I still performed though. I almost got the soprano solo in the one piece before we left and I was so happy I didn't that day.

i was performing Aida, and coincidentally [sp.] it was on a Friday the 13th. none of the cast members were superstitious until this performance.

*the intercoms in the dressing room broke the 2nd act and Mereb missed his cue to go one before Aida's song "easy as life"

*our boat broke

*i got knocked out on stage

*a bench was on the curtain, so when the curtain went up all you could hear was a HUGEEE ripping sound

*Aida's mic went out halfway through "easy as life"

*due to the intercom malfunction, we ended up skipping a whole scene because people missed their cues

...there was probably more, but it sucked. also the fact that our director was freaking out [but thats understandable]

Well, in a performance of "The Crucible", our Abigail passes out and started having a seizure on stage. One of the worst and most scary nights of my life.

During dress rehersal for Into the Woods, our Baker's Wife passed out and I caught her. No one noticed and I was like "Ummm.... someone help!" It was a very scary moment.

During The Wizard of Oz my freshman year of highschool we ripped a curtain in an unusual way! During the scene with the Wizard we had some of the cast blowing fire extinguishers into the air and then they set them behind this big panels that roll off stage. Well when the crew went to roll them off stage one of the exstinguishers fell over and went off! It tore a big hole in the curtain, man we thought we were going to be fried!

My other one isn't bad but kinda comical. When I was in Rocky Horror last year no one prompted the cue for the accompiantist to change... It was during the Floor Show where practically the whole cast is making out. SO we had to just keep going until they finally figured it out! I'm still not sure if it was an accident or on purpose...

One of them only affected me. I was in a revue called "Bound for Broadway" and had a solo in a medley from the Wiz. It was our last show, and I got a wicked migraine right before I went onstage. I didn't have any medicine with me, so I had to hit my high G and dance my butt off to "You Can't Stop the Beat."

Last year at my dance show, our teacher volunteered to make the costumes. She had completely sewn everyone's except for mine. We decided that we'd just pin it all together and toss it on me. Unfortunately, we got the schedule saying that my solo jazz number was right before the unfinished-costume number, which led for an incredibly quick change. At high school, you're just a bit more self-concious about stripping down in front of everyone. Anywho, during the dance I was sobbing because people were screaming at me to get out there because I was late, and my costume was coming off.

All I can say is thank God for leotards.

YES!

And I just thought of another bad experience.

I was Cinderella in the R&H version at my camp this summer, except it was children's theatre, so there were no intermissions. Anyone know what that means? QUICK CHANGES!

I'm going to go load up some pictures on my webshots so I can show you guys what I mean.

Okay. I'm back...with pictures!

So the first quick change I had was during the Transformation sequence, when I change from my rags to my ballgown. There's one part in the number where I run offstage and someone else runs on and takes my place, giving me a good 15 seconds to get changed. It was pretty chaotic. We do a preview for the staff of the camp, and my ballgown wasn't finished yet. It was just a drawstring skirt with a drawstring that wouldn't pull tightly or tie, and it was three inches too long. I was so humiliated. Ugh. During the waltz, the Prince helped me by holding up my skirt. So embarassing.

Quick change #2! The Prince and I just had a cheesy love scene, and then the clock goes off, and I bolt. We were on the stage right platform - I run down the steps onto the diamond (where we waltz in the pictures), up to the stage left platform, up those stairs to the bridge and down the spiral staircase. Did I mention I did three quarters of this with ONE SHOE ON? So then I sprint down the spiral staircase and rip off my ballgown for an even faster full costume change back into my rags for the "Lovely Night" scene. As you can see in one photo, my costume is a little off.
There's a special photo album for you!

We did R&H Cinderella and I was supposed to try on the slipper during a vignette thing and the guard was supposed to try to put the slipper on me and it's supposed to be too big so he tries to force it on my foot and he tried to hard and hit me in the face with his head and gave me a bloody nose onstage.
