"Tempted" is the #3 on the list of most played songs on my ipod. Under: "Mein Herr" and "Careless Whispers"
Mr. Blue!
Yaz is why I love Erasure so much! And Alison's solo stuff, of course!.

Two of my faves, too (though The Police are my all-time favorite). Funny you mentioned this, because I was listening to "Only You" just yesterday on my iTunes!
Alison Moyet? Vocal GODDESS. Is it true she had Paul Young's baby years ago?
I saw Erasure open up for Duran Duran years ago. There was an elephant onstage at Madison Square Garden. Andy Bell wore flaming red tights and a cape. It was a real spectacle. But he sounded just delicious. Oh L'Amour...
Re: Squeeze. Came thisclose to reuniting on that VH-1 show Bands Reunited during the first season. Sadly, it fell through. Glen Tilbrook's voice is flawless. My fave Squeeze tunes are "Annie Get Your Gun," "Another Nail in My Heart" and "Black Coffee in Bed." "Tempted" is great, because Paul Carrack's lead vocal is so amazingly soulful and gorgeous. He was with them for that one album, right?
"Singles 45's and Under" is one of the best albums ever.
"Upstairs at Eric's" is also one of my faves... Alison Moyet's new album "Voice" is beautiful!

Whatsamatta Corine, aintchya got a Google?
You should know, their actual NAME was Yazoo, not Yaz. They were forced to call themselves Yaz in the U.S. because some lesbian softball team was known as the Yazoos, and typical lesbians, they sued. (A U.S. lesbian named Suede sued Suede and in the U.S. THEY had to call themselves Suede U.K.)
I have a first pressing of the U.S. Yaz lp Upstairs at Eric's, and you just had to peel off the sticker to see the Yazoo beneath. They only existed for two albums and even nominal fans know what happened next. By not knowing, you appear to be a dilettante, rather than the sophisticated, cosmopolitan new wave gal about town you used to be.
Namo,
I owned the tape of Upstairs. It melted and I splurged this week.
I never knew that. It is one of my favorites. Listened to it all night.
Doll, goodbye Seventies.. OH OH OH.

And do you know what Alf, the lead singer of Yazoo did after they broke up?
No! What?
Can you hear me oh can you hear me?
Can you hear me at all got to get the operator make a telephone call.
Namo? Do we have a bad connection?
CAN YOU HEAR ME???? I'VE BEEN CALLING YOUR NAME!

I just remember Alison releasing some solo stuff, having a semi-hit with Invisible (though I don't think I heard it on too many stations other than WLIR here in NY), singing at Live Aid w/Paul Young. Whom she was rumored to have had a romance (and child) with. Don't know if that was ever confirmed. Have no idea what she's been up to lately. i'll never forget that deep, gorgeous alto.

Well, for one thing, she was Mama Morton in the London "Chicago."
I'm surprised by how little people who call themselves "fans" know about their "favorite bands."

What's the big deal if Corine didn't know that?
I have to tell you Namo. I don't listen to much but theater.
But, I saw Yaz on sale (I owned it in high school and listened to it but did not care about the band) I mean I danced to it.
That was it.
I bought the cd in Times Square on Wed. I am hooked.
I love it. If you need a copy they have it for 9 bucks at The Virgin Mega Store.
Memories. I also bought Devo, my tape is gone and Sgt Peppers.
All 10 or under. They had culture club for 6 dollars. HA HA.

"My favorite bands"/"but did not care about the band"
THIS is the clearest, most recent example of why it is that people have a hard time following you, Corine.
Well,
I was a teen. I just listened to the tapes. I did not follow anything but the music. I don't know anything about Squeeze either. Broadway show tunes is what I care about.
Squeeze is my favorite band and I have no clue about them.
I listened to them heavily in the 70's and 80's lost some interest in the 90's and want to listen again.
Why must I know about my favorite bands.

And Namo,
Why must everything be an argument? Can't I just love the music without knowing about the band? Do you know every bit of trivia from your favorite bands? I never interviewed them.
I really just care about the music.
Elvis Costello is another favorite and I know nothing about him.
I am a terrible person!

"Do you know every bit of trivia from your favorite bands?"
Pretty much, yeah, I do. And apparently I know a lot of trivia about bands that are not my favorites, but yours. Really, what you seem to be is somebody who likes some pop music and once in a while knows the name of the artist who recorded it.
Nothing wrong with that. Funny thing is, I gave you a lot of Squeeze and Elvis info the last time you started a thread about them. Apparently you have some difficulties with retention unless it's a puppet telling you things.

I really liked Squeeze. "Up the Junction" and "Goodbye Girl" are my favorites. YAZ "Nobody's Diary" and Alison's solo "Love Resurrection" are great as well.

I listened to "Upstairs At Eric's" incessantly in high school and college. In fact, my a cappella group did a pretty kick-ass version of "Only You." hehe As for Squeeze, the only album of theirs I actually owned was "babylon and on." Which I also played pretty incessantly.
Namo - Take heart kiddo. Afterall, the odds in Corine listening to Squeeze in the 70s is probably slim. Their first album was in 1978 - but they didn't really hit the US until 1980. I mean it's possible...
I heard them in 1979 on a teen tour. A guy on my trip got me hooked. I owned Argy Bargy, East Side Story, Cool for Cats.
I love all of them. Cool for Cats is my favorite.
I saw them in concert on the Pier in 83 or 84. Not sure which.
It was hard to see as I am short. But they were amazing.
Tempted. Black Coffee in Bed, and Cool for Cats were on 24/7 in the 80's.

A teen tour?
I am glad there are other people out there who listen to new wave music and showtunes as well. Any Psychedlic Furs fans out there in Broadway World land?
