As a Mets fan, I thought you all might enjoy this little 'serves me right' story:
Last year I was watching the World Series, and being the bitter person that I am, I was doing my "please let the Yankees lose" chant in my head. Well, as it was official that they lost I jumped up off my bed with such excitement and threw my hands in the air. However, I didn't take into account that me standing on my bed put me REALLY close to the light on my ceiling, I smacked my right hand on my ceiling fan and my left hand on the lightbulb and burnt my hand and had to ice it. I felt like a moron.

Aw, it's just a friendly rivalry. Well, maybe not friendly, exactly. But Yankees vs. Red Sox is one of the greatest rivalries in sports. When/if "Damn Yankees" gets remade as a movie, the Senators should be replaced by the Red Sox. They could even weave the Curse of the Bambino into the story. How great would that be? Think of the jokes - at my poor Boston team's expense, too. I mean, the Babe was sold so the owners of the Sox could back a Broadway show. It's ripe for rewriting.

Posted: 10/6/04 at 12:29pmOh, please. The misery of the Senators (well, when they existed) makes the Red Sox look downright fortunate.
#14re: yyankees!!
Posted: 10/6/04 at 2:07pmso going back to 2000 (including alds, alcs and ws play) the yanks have lost game one 6 out of 9 times. of those 6 times they've won the series 5 out of 6 times. if i'm wrong on this, plum please correct me. all is well.

Posted: 10/6/04 at 2:10pmI believe you are correct, papa. It's their cruel way of taunting the rest of the country and the Mets fans, as well as those of us who live in New York and have no interest in team sports whatsoever, but have the Yankees shoved down our throats for the entire season every year.

Posted: 10/6/04 at 3:48pmThe thing about the Senators, was they were "First in war, First in peace, last in the American League". so the Senators winning the Pennant thats a big huzzah for a Washington team. If it were the Red Sox are good. the Red Sox are the second best team in the AL East, 4th best this year in the AL. it wouldnt work with the Red Sox

I just wish someone would beat the Braves. If my name was Chipper I'd have to kick my own ass.

I guess the frustration of no pennant since 1918 only hurts this much here in Boston. I mean, what other team has had to suffer Bill Buckner??? And don't get me started on Pedro being left in the game last year. Aaarrrgggghhhh.
I can sure see our boys singing "Heart," though!

Who suffers like the Red Sox? Oh, I dunno. The Indians? The Cubs? You guys just get more attention because you're a larger media market and because of that idiotic "curse" that's based in anti-Semitic bull**** in the first place.
