Slow news lately. Nothing happening in the theatre scene?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I think my hair turned gray while I attempted to navigate that title.

But I do have a soft spot for The Music Man. re: You can talk, you can talk. You can bicker you can talk. You can talk

In response to the original post- If there wasn't a slow part of the season, there couldn't be a fast one.

Anyone remember when the late great Andy Kaufman appeared on SNL and performed the opening number of The Music Man all by himself - accompanying himself on the conga drums?

The man was a frickin' genius.

"does anyone have the cast recording and could possibly email it to me?"

No.
They cannot.
That is illegal.
Go buy it and support theatre.

You can find this in discount stores for cheap. The CD is not hard to find and is generally inexpensive.

Each time you burn a CD or get one over AIM you are depriving the record company a sale. Broadway already suffers from low sales - so much to the point that it was rumoured record labels would STOP producing Broadway Cast Recordings.

So save up and buy the CD - don't hurt Broadway, help it!

Well, I know nothing of the music man, but I thought it was a relyricing (That's a Justice word) of "You can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! (Anyone ever REALLY listen to that song, and you can almost assume that those who wrote it were so high on drugs)

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I actually love Jonatha Brook's "Second Star to the Right", although I never saw the Peter Pan sequel...but I love Jonatha Brooke.
