I'm talking both new and returning shows. What shows have really got you glued to the boob tube this season and, on the other hand, what shows are turning you off?
Here are mine:
FAVES
Chuck- Boy oh boy has this series gotten great. It started off fairly good last year but has been getting better by leaps and bounds since premiering, and this season has been scarily good, funny, witty and wonderful.
Ugly Betty- Last season was great, IMHO, but this season has been even better, what with its focus more on character development rather than overaching plot. Whereas last year it felt a little like pieces on a chessboard, this year the characters feel much more organic.
Pushing Daisies- I'm a little biased here because I'm friends with the creator Bryan Fuller, but I'm ecstatic to see that nine months gone has done nothing to tame the wild imagination of this show. Bravo.
LEAST FAVES
America's Next Top Model- I decided to watch "Pushing Daisies" and tape "Top Model," but this batch of models is so boring that, for the first time ever, I've just stopped watching altogther. Oh yeah, and Tyra as a robot and a fairy princess? Puh-lease. Not funny and actually wince-inducing.
Gossip Girl- Is it just me or is the show, while still witty and wiley, not playing fair with any of its characters and making them do wild things that seem completely out of character? Chuck almost RAPED Dan's sister; they would never have a fun night out. Jenny would NEVER ditch school like that. Ah well...
I should also note that both "Heroes" and "Lipstick Jungle" have improved by leaps and bounds this season. Where "Heroes" was plain bad last season, this year its gripping and fun, and "Lipstick Jungle" has gone from unwatchable to mediocre.

So I followed the links in your profile as you recommended another poster do and your blog hasn't been updated since September 1 and your myspace link doesn't work.
I was particularly moved by your "Death of Entertainment Journalism" post. It made me very happy to hear that one prong of the Entertainment Industrial Complex is dead. Perhaps a good percentage of the populace will wake up out of the narcoleptic stupor? You sure do watch a lot of television and bad movies.

Finding Namo,
Thank you for the kick in the pants. I've only been posting my blog entries on Facebook for some time, and your post reminded me to update the blog. There are seven new posts to catch up on what I've been writing about the past month. I am also going to post my recent Broadway reviews tomorrow or the next day.
And my Myspace link SHOULD work, it works for me. Try again and let me know if it still doesn't work. I don't use Myspace that much anymore, and recommend that you friend me on Facebook to get more in touch with my daily work.
I can see you aren't a big fan of the current pop culture genre, and I'm sorry to hear that. Expect a blog entry soon about my recent reading list, which includes David Sedaris, Raymond Chandler, a great gem called "The Ridiculous Race," "Up at the Villa" and this phenomenal author, Julia Peterkin, who won the Pulitzer in 1929 and then disappeared entirely from the critical mindset.
Back on topic, I forgot to mention "Supernatural," which was always an interesting diversion in the past but now a smashingly good show.

A friend is a noun not a verb.
I have never been to Facebook and choose to spend my time doing more meaningful things.

The use of friend as a verb is Facebook specific and used on that Web site when you want to become Facebook friends with another person on the site, therefore my usage is totally justified. Just an FYI.
And I'm SO excited that your more meaningful things include reading my blog, reminding me that I need to update it and then posting something on a thread that is completely off topic when it would have been equally as simple to send me a message or post that on the pertinent thread. Thanks.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...

Returning shows:
I love love love love love love Chuck. It is my favorite show on TV right now. I spent all weekend watching the entire first season, even though I have seen every episode more than once on TV, and I watched the season premiere twice. I agree that the episodes get better and better. There are some plot holes that I've noticed, like how the intersect knows things that might happen after it was embedded into Chuck, I tend to overlook that because I pretty much love everything about this show. I mean, Orange Orange, a super obvious Pinkberry knock-off that looks cooler than Pinkberry does, replacing the Wienerlicious? Awesome (pun intended)!
Pushing Daisies has been great as always.
Brothers and Sisters instantly became one of my favorite shows back when it started. It was a truly great show. The second season was inconsistently good, and that pattern has continued to the third season (at least it seems that way from the first two episodes). I cringe at the whole Justin-Rebecca storyline.
How I Met Your Mother, I thought had an amazing first season. It was different kind of show and although it's not even that funny, there's just something about it. Season two and three were inconsistently funny, but some of the storyline still had the drama-comedy aspect to it. So far, I am enjoying this season very much.
The show I can't wait for to come back: 30 Rock.
New shows:
I had The Ex-List on while I was cleaning up sometime this past weekend. It was okay. I laughed at parts. I will not be DVR-ing any of the new episodes, which probably says it all.
Kath and Kim. I watched the first episode that was available to download for free on iTunes. I was really looking forward to this show, which is probably why it was a total let down. Didn't make my DVR list either.
True Blood is okay.
Shows I have removed from my DVR list:
Heroes - after the strike, I just lost interest.
Private Practice - same goes for this, although I never thought it was any good.
Grey's Anatomy - same as the previous two, plus it got repetitive after season two.
Dirty Sexy Money - I was never really into this show, but I saw every episode of season one.
My Name is Earl - Techincally I haven't removed this off the list yet, but I might just let it be deleted. I think it's a great show, but I don't look forward to watching it every week.

Amazing Race
Survivor
America's Next Top Model
Brothers and Sisters
New Adventures of Old Christine
Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
I haven't seen the new episodes of Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy or Pushing Daisies yet. Fringe is the only new series I have found mildly interesting thus far.

I go through phases of becoming absolutely addicted to "Dirty, Sexy Money" and watch four episodes in a row before completely forgetting about it for awhile. It's odd, because the show is good overall, but for every three great subplots in a given episode, at least two are stinkers. And it's always that way, with no exceptions.
And I miss the sister.

My favourite returning show is 'House'. I think one tends to be a little more forgiving when a medical drama gets repetitive, because by its very nature, it needs to be repetitive. Some of the characters are a little blah and generic, but the characters who are well-formed are SO well-formed that I will love them forever. 'House' = favourite TV show ever. :3
My favourite new shows are, surprisingly, 'Fringe' and 'Life On Mars'. Probably because I had no/low expectations for them, therefore every time they do something good, I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm sadly convinced that 'Heroes' and 'Pushing Daisies' suck this season. 'Heroes' seems to be repeating the mistakes of season 2 (let's make Claire whiny and annoying; let's drop a character in an unfamiliar landscape for shizzles and giggles; let's give Hiro nothing interesting to do; let's send someone into the future to see how awful the world will be in the future and for the rest of the season they'll be working to save the world), whereas 'Pushing Daisies' has crossed over from "whimsical" to "too cutesy and pleased with itself to be palatable".
'Ugly Betty' was sucking, but it seems to be regaining the status quo. Although I could have been unfairly influenced by the newest episode having Gio back (yay!), so we'll see if it stays "thank heaven it doesn't suck as hard as the beginning of the season did" once he's off again.
I'ma keep watching all of these, on the offchance they improve/start sucking more, but I feel sad that I'm enjoying 'Life On Mars' US more than 'Heroes'. XP
