kissmycookie: Yes, Mr Crudup does indeed get down and dirty with Ben Chaplin in Stage Beauty. I feel I may need to start a thread about that movie right now.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

kissmycookie: I've heard about Crudup and Chaplin -- but, tempting as that sounds, as a matter of principal, I'm not seeing it until it hits cable. Sorry, but Mary-Louise has been one of my favorites since "Prelude To A Kiss" and while I don't know the whole story, let's just say I've cooled to Mr. Crudup's charms for the time being.

I was curious about Mr. Crudup's Elephant Man.

And by the way, THANK YOU Margo for introducing the thought of the EVIL Page 6 - I had to go and see who you were referring to on Fire Island - and then I had to read the whole evil page - THANKS re: Your guiltiest pleasure

Margo: I totally understand. I don't think I'll catch the movie myself. I'd rather concentrate on seeing MLP in Reckless soon, and am (guiltily) looking forward to The Pillowman with BC next year.

I was very underwhelmed with Crudup's Elephant Man and his Angelo in Measure For Measure around the same time -- very lukewarm performances lacking in passion and energy. I saw Phillip Anglim's original Elephant Man and Crudup's wasn't in the same league (even taking into account that it was a markedly different interpretation of the role). Oddly, his performances have seemed to grow weaker with each successive play since his brilliant debut in ARCADIA. He was also quite good in BUS STOP, but lackluster in everything since.

I'm very curious about PILLOWMAN as well -- perhaps I'll have forgiven him enough by Spring to be willing to see the play with him in it.

I'm seeing RECKLESS Wednesday and looking forward to seeing MLP again (been hearing iffy things about it -- very mixed reactions to it over on ATC).

And DGrant, You're WELCOME -- one of us, one of us, one of us.............. re: Your guiltiest pleasure

I have to say Seussical. I really like it more than I should. I guess it reminds me of my friends and I.
