As I sit here in my office, wearing trousers and a blouse, I know I owe YSL a HUGE debt of gratitude for his work in making pants acceptable wear for women. I was working when dresses and skirts were mandatory dress for women in the office. YSL sent models down the runway wearing pantsuits that feminized the look of a man's suit and women everywhere - who were already fighting for passage of the ERA - said "if it's good enough for men, it's good enough for us!" I remember when the word came down from the admin staff allowing us to start wearing pantsuits to the office. It was marvelous! NO MORE PANTYHOSE!!!!
Thank you Yves - and may you now rest in peace.
