Anyone got this computer game by Microsoft? My son bought it for me over the holidays and I'm getting way too hooked building and maintaining my zoos. Kinda reminds me of this place, except I when the animals get deleted they don't come back.
It's put out by Blue Fang productions and can be bought at Target for about $20. Pretty fun and challanging.

When I was twelve/thirteen or so I loved Rollercoaster Tycoon.
It was the only computer game I ever really got into.
I am bad at those things.

Posted: 1/6/05 at 10:55pmI saw a commercial for some Tycoon-game. I'm not sure if it was the Zoo Edition, but it just looked too funny. There was a roller coaster that crashed into a zoo and there was a panda bear running towards the screen with its paws flailing in the air. It was hysterical.

The roller coaster game will be my next addiction! I was told it's a blast! My zoo tycoon has only animals, which I allow to escape to watch the guests scream and fall down, before I cage them back up. Biggest problem is keeping the guest from getting hungry. Guess I could always feed them to the animals. This is really too fun!

Zoo Tycoon is such an addictive game. I had it a few years ago, and was a total pro at it. I was able to get Pandas to mate!
I really should hunt it down, it is one of the best games I've played. And I still love Rollercoaster Tycoon!

I agree, paradox. I can play that game for HOURS. But then again I also cheated and got all the money I could. Oh well...but it's still fun. But then I get really bored with it, so I tear down some walls and see the wild beasts go at it and eat all the humans.
Same for Rollercoaster. The best part is when you shorter the loop one and they crash into the ground. Of course I'd never do this in person...but that's just my evil side.

Posted: 1/7/05 at 11:00amI like Zoo Tycoon, but I LOVE Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2. I don't like the new Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. The Coaster Cam and fireworks are great, but the 3D graphics don't do it for me. The construction mode is not as user-friendly (modelled closely to Jurassic Park: Genesis). There are WAY too many detailed options that make the game more tedious than fun. There is a bug that screws up the colors, though I'm sure it will be fixed with a patch soon. Overall, I think the new version is kind of a let-down.

I lost a good six months of my life to Roller Coaster Tycoon.
Don't even get me started on Age of Empires. I think I lost a girlfriend who couldn't understand why I had to defeat the Mongols on both land and in the sea.

It's pretty bad. I found myself in an "executive panic" when my first zoo nearly went bankrupt. I was selling off those friggin'flamingos, who were never happy anyway, and half the zoo to keep it floating.
Now, I'm building a zoo per hour and named Donald Trump as one of my maintenance workers. I find myself stealing valuable time to play zookeeper...sad...very sad...but fun!

I'm currently addicted to Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I really enjoy working with the movie-themed and fright-night parks.
I almost installed it on my laptop at work, but I realized that would be crossing a line. Though 6 hours a day here is probably beyond some line, but what the heck.

Totally addicted to RTC3 (as I was to 1 and 2). I can't wait to go home and play. And I'm almost 40 people! Was addicted to SimCity 2000, but once it got to 3000 it was too much detail, and the graphics never quite worked on my computer at the time.

I found the problem with SimCity 3000 was that it was too easy to "beat." I managed to make an uber-city eventually, something I never did with earlier versions of the game. And for me the pleasure of those games is all in the building- disaster weren't my thing.
Hey, did anyone ever manage to colonize the moon in SimCity 2000? Now that was weird.

Posted: 1/8/05 at 4:38pmI'm pretty sure it was in 2000- if you get enough of those bio-dome things, eventually they all take off for the moon. Or was it Mars? I don't remember anymore; I did it years ago. Pretty funky, though, huh?
