absolutely fabulous

Anyone on here watch Absolutely Fabulous? As you can see by my name, i'm an avid fan. Edina Monsoon is a so much like my aunt that it's scary; hilarious, but very, very scary.

re: absolutely fabulous

Does it still exist? I'd say it's moved passed its prime, but when it was good, it was great. "Is that what you want, Sweetie, some boring old, normal old toilet goer?"

love the quote!
No it's not on anymore, re-runs every once and awhile. i have the series on dvd and no matter how many times i've seen them, they're still just as hilarious as ever. unfortunatly when it was originally on i was in elementary school so not exactly age appropriate. I really got into it just before the fourth season was released a few years ago. loved it ever since.

re: absolutely fabulous

I wouldn't say it has moved past its prime at all. There was a series about 1.5 years ago (approx.) and it was hilarious. Saffy's had a baby and Edina is NOT having it. Until she finds out it's a mixed race baby and refers to it as "the must-have baby of the season. The Chanel of babies!"

It was 6 episodes, I believe (standard for a British "season")

Jennifer Saunders is notorious about delivering scripts late, and she's said she's done writing the show, but she's said that before. So let's hope for at least 1 more series.

re: absolutely fabulous

There was also a new episode of French and Saunders last year including spoofs on Troy and Cold Mountain. Some really good stuff in there, though my personal favorite F&S skit is the opera divas studio session recording Kylie Minogue's "I Should Be So Lucky". I adore Dawn French and treasure my Vicar of Dibley DVDs.

re: absolutely fabulous

that would be unreal if they put out another season. it has a bit of cult following so you never know, maybe in a few years they'll pull out another one.
i've watched a few episodes of saunders and french, not nearly as funny but there were a few good skits. i was dying during the cold mountain skit, i thought that was absolutely hilarious

I love that F&S! The spoof of Madonn'a GAP ad and the Madonna/Britney video is HILARIOUS.

I also love Jen Saunders as Chris Martin's mother-

"Is this The Coldplay? Yeah, it's Chris' mother. Listen, about the name Apple..."

re: absolutely fabulous

hahahaha i forgot all about the coldplay one! i didn't see the video one but the gap ad i did see and that was priceless! i think if i see jennifer do anything i'll still pee my pants. i can't even look at her without laughing, i just automatically picture her doing something ridiculous. i think the most i laughed was the episode of ab fab when she's cut off by her exhusbands and has to go and get groceries and on the way she and patsy attack another car at the intersection. just too good!

I LOVE when they go to Morocco and sell Saffy as a white slave. The Pop Spex she's wearing by the pool are amazing.

If you haven't seen the past 2 series, you should rent/buy them. One was released in 2001, the other 2003.

re: absolutely fabulous

hahahah my favorite part in that one is when edina and patsy are on the conveyer belt in the morocco airport.
i have the first four seasons on dvd but i've yet to get the fifth. i have them on my computer though, still have a few more to watch. the movie is hilarious too, "the last shout" its called. the two of them on the ski hill is great

re: absolutely fabulous

The Last Shout is so great. I love when Edina sees God in the form of dancing hippies, singing "Good Morning Starshine."

Speaking of which, have you seen the more recent NYC special? They come to NYC and we finally see Edina's long lost son, Serge.

re: absolutely fabulous

I did see that; that was hilarious! The two of them getting married was perfect. really they should have ended up being lesbians or something; they're too perfect for each other.
When whoopie says "V on V" i almost peed myself. And when patsy goes on fire when she's dancing on the bar

re: absolutely fabulous

While I don't wish to threadjack, we were talking of Dawn French. Did anyone see the episode where she did the "queen's speech" as Catherine Zeta Jones? It was comedy GENIUS.

hahhaha i forgot about the angela's ashes! i love when she's running on the cars and at the end falls and ends up with the crutches. and when she's crossing the street with the crutches and they go through the pothole. i dont know how they come up with those things!
I saw little voice a few years ago and i remember it being really good. i'll have to get it again. is micheal caine in it too? i seem to remember another big name

re: absolutely fabulous

I hated the whole Whoopie Goldberg segment of that New York, AbFab. Otherwise, it was very funny.

re: absolutely fabulous

the midwife was creepy as hell! she reminded me of the little old women in the "Poltergeist" movies. soooo creepy.

convinceme2 - overall i'm not a whoopie goldburg fan, just that one quote really got me. that's one quote i like to use whenever i can. people definitly look at me oddly but the laughter i get myself is well worth the weird looks. i also loved the guy that played serge's partner, he was hilarious.

re: absolutely fabulous

Yes, he's somebody's husband. I mean somebody Broadway related. I don't remember now.
