you need to be a bit more specific. What role are you hoping to score or will any role do? What's your vocal range?

Agreed with Defy Gravity. In addition, even if the audition notice says it's ok to sing a song from the show, do NOT do it. There's nothing worse than 20 girls in a row butchering/singing "Home".

Well obviously if she's thinking about singing "I'm Not Afraid of Anything" she's probably a belter/mezzo....which in turn means that she most likely is auditioning for Belle.

That would be a good audition choice, but the only danger is that it's Jason Robert Brown and his stuff can be kind of difficult to play. If this is a community production or regional theatre, it's more likely that the pianist has played that song before, so you're probably ok.

Go for it girl! And if the pianist butchers the song, the most important thing is to not look at them like it's their fault. Keep singing the song, try and stick with them, but if they are way off....do your thing. Just don't look at the pianist if they mess up!! Break a leg!!!

definatly went through this pain last year. (it's the whole reason i signed on this board) well if you are going for the Belle, do NOT do anything from Chicago (for some reason, everyone did Roxie last year, and none of them got cast)

try doing something from Webber, i know that sounds corny, but he has some good range of styles and songs

BBreak a leg!

Ah, cherie, won't it all be top-drawer I'll wear lipstick and rouge And I won't be so huge Why, I'll easily fit through that door I'll exude savior-faire I'll wear gowns! I'll have hair! It's my prayer to be human again

If you're going for Belle, try "Journey to the Past" from Anastasia. That's what I used when I audtioned for the production earlier in the year and landed the part! It shows off range and still has that "optimistic princess" feel to it. Our director complemented the selection, so hopefully it will help you out too! Hope your audition goes well and break a leg! re: beauty and the beast

just tell maureen you forgot her cowbell because you were busy getting stoned. she'll understand.
