britney at wicked

Ok, I'm sure I'm missing some other post on here about this but....am I the only one who saw Britney at Wicked on Tuesday night? She sat two rows in front of us and bought extra tickets so no one would be sitting next to their group and got attacked for autographs during intermission and ended up leavong before the show was over (standing up almost MID-SONG - i could've killed her) to avoid people after the show.

re: britney at wicked

That's hard to imagine from someone of her class, dignity and breeding.

re: britney at wicked

Right. Because no other theatergoers EVER enter or exit at inappropriate times. Only every night at every show.

Which, of course, only points to THEIR class, dignity and breeding.

re: britney at wicked

Maybe she just had to make a tinkle.

re: britney at wicked

Exactly. I've never once been to a show without that happening. And most people didn't need to do it to get away from mobs of fans - they just don't want to be - God forbid - stuck in the theater waiting to get out with everyone else.

re: britney at wicked

It's rude and disturbs the audience. I don't care who you are.

re: britney at wicked

I agree, insomniak. However, she may have been asked to do that by theater security so she didn't cause a mob scene in the aisles.

re: britney at wicked

It depends on when she left. If it was right at the very end that would be a logical explanation; if it was midway through the act it was inconsiderate.

re: britney at wicked

Amen, insomniak - not to mention how rude it is to the performers.
#11

re: britney at wicked

she should have left before the show even started so no one would have had to deal with her.

I would've been just as annoyed if it were anyone else getting up in the mid- show, I don't care if it's Britney or some other random rude person. and, in this case, it was not one person getting up in the middle of the row, but four.

It happens all the time but that doesn't make it right.

Matt - if what you're saying is that their actions amount to saying 'p*ss on the audience and actors' then you might be right re: britney at wicked

re: britney at wicked

when I saw Carmen at the Met a couple of years ago the woman in front of me got up with her two kids the second that Carmen was stabbed. Hello? The show will be over in about 30 seconds, she could not just wait??? And why she had two kids at the opera is beyond me.

Sorry if I spoiled the ending to Carmen for anyone...

Hey, y'all. Maybe Brit was there so she could see the role she plans on taking over next year.

re: britney at wicked

I really dont blame her. (not saying I wouldnt be annoyed had I been there, but...) When i saw it Carson and Jai were attacked and casued some issues getting out of the theatre and they have NO fame compared to someone like Britney Spears. No saying its right, but i understand even though realistically she should of sat in the back bc of course she knows when shes in a mass amount of people she would be attacked

re: britney at wicked

Rath - I'm curious about your opinion - and I'm NOT criticizing, I really am curious. I know from your other posts that you defend Britiney against undo attack, and that is certainly your right to do so. But your statement about people who don't want to get 'stuck' in a theatre at the end intrigues me.

Theatre, to me, is a very communal experience, and has to do with the entirety of the event. From the moment the lights go down to when they come up it seems to me that you should be willingly giving yourself over to the environment created for you - and willing to share it with all the other audience members.

I'm not sure I'm understanding why you are expressing that it's OK for people to come and go at will, when it's so obviously affecting the experience of the people around them - and as I've already stated, very disrespectful to the performers.

re: britney at wicked

I'm not. If you read all my posts, you will see that I don't approve of it at all. When I said that about people being stuck in the theater, it was with sarcasm and much disapproval.

But I think Britney is an unusual case. And would quite possibly cause a fire hazard had she waited until curtain.

I defend her because I get tired of her being the scapegoat for EVERYTHING. It's gotten extremely tired. It's laziness to always blame her for everything. And this is a case where she's being flogged for doing something that people do every single night. Not saying it's right at all - I would never do it, and in fact came the closest to some kind of "accident" that I've ever come when I went to see CAROLINE OR CHANGE because I refused to get up 2 minutes before curtain to visit the restroom - but I've never seen a thread about it before Britney did it...

I agree with Rath! Im not saying its a good thing to do (and even if i hated a show i would NEVER do it) but its more realistic

re: britney at wicked

Rath - OK, I just simply missed the 'sarcasm' part - damn this written word communication!

As for Britney being 'singled out,' I sympathize with your frustration, but she really HAS been held aloft as the representative of a portion of the population - hence Mr. Moore's inclusion of her interview in F 9/11. Personally, I have very little knowledge of her, and am intrigued by all the 'hoop-da-la' that seems to attend her every action.
